We are Fabrizio and Lorraine and fell in love with this fantastic unspoilt, green and mountainous area of Garfagnana many years ago due to the amazing views, the wonderful peace, and the real yesteryear, non touristy feel to the entire area. We achieved our dream of coming to live in this little piece of paradise with our two daughters, 10 years ago. We have been letting properties in the area for 12 years (our own properties , and for others via our agency Tuscan Retreats). We also assist friends running Houses in Tuscany with all their booking administration, so we advertise for ourselves, Tuscan Retreats and Houses in Tuscany, the latter of which has been running for 15 years. We get lots of fulfillment from seeing others fall in love with the area and return to us again and again!

Beautiful villa with a good sized swimming pool.
Our second year in a row staying at Casa Roc, and again it was a wonderful holiday. The villa is very clean and very well equipped. A car is essential to get to Barga (nearest town for provisions). We made very good use of the local restaurant, The Terrazza, 5 min walk from Casa Roc. Excellent traditional Italian food with out of this world pizzas on a Saturday night. There is no need to go anywhere when you are at Casa Roc, but if you feel like a day trip the villa has many leaflets and guide books to help you decide. The views from the villa and the pool are breath taking, a fabulous place relax.
Thank you for your review.
Glad you enjoyed your second stay as much as your first!
We look forward to hearing from you again for another stay

A great house and a beautifull view
An unsurpassed view of the beautiful town of Barga. A house that is comfortable, clean and where you can feel at home. Beautiful pool, but in September a bit cold ofcourse. Given its location, cities such as Pisa and Lucca are easy to travel, but certainly at an hour by car. We were very satisfied.
Thank you for your review.
We are very pleased to know you were very satisfied with your stay!

Beautiful property, beautiful house, and beautiful location. I do not recommend trying to find it for the first time in the dark.... was difficult for us. :)
The owner is fabulous. Responds promptly with thoughtful and informative emails. Highly recommended!
Thank you for your review. We are glad you loved the property! Best wishes, Lorraine at Tuscan-retreats
Albiano is a village in the Garfagnana region of northern Tuscany, very close to Barga, ‘the most Scottish town in Italy’. Both are a slightly off the tourist track, with most visitors to the area having some ancestral connection with it. This is a pity, as it is one of the most spectacular and fascinating parts of Italy, with the locals friendly and welcoming, particularly to inglese (English speakers). For a family holiday with 2 or 3 kids, Albiano Casa Roc is the perfect place to stay.
Casa Roc has pretty much everything you will need. Double and twin bedrooms upstairs, single downstairs, all with en suite. Spacious living room (with dining table), kitchen and covered patio area outside, perfect for breakfast. But best of all is the pool, with sun loungers, parasols and al fresco dining area. If your kids (like mine) love swimming, this will certainly make your holiday. Pool towels are provided. We did need to scrounge a fan for night time, although admittedly the ‘Lucifer’ heatwave was exceptional, even for Italy.
Barga is walkable (although hard in the heat), but to make the most of what the area has to offer you will need a car. Shops are in Barga, with the gigantic Conad supermarket about 20 mins drive away. Eating out in Albiano means La Terrazza (4* on TripAdvisor), rustic and family-run. However, there is alot more choice if you drive.
We visit Albiano regularly, principally to visit family and friends. From now on, Casa Roc will now be our first choice when it comes to finding somewhere to stay.
The property was exactly what we hoped for . The directions supplied meant we arrived without any "detours" and we were delighted with what we found. The house is spacious, very clean and had everything we needed. The kitchen was better equipped than mine- not that we ate there much . The house sits on the side of the hill and the views are wonderful across to Barga and the mountain. The local restaurant was a 5 minute walk and was full to the brim on Sunday night ( book) but empty on Thursday and i believe the pizza ovens at the weekend draw a big crowd. The bedrooms were big , our bed very comfortable and plenty of hanging space. The evenings were chilly and i was worried that i would be cold but the wardrobe revealed extra pillows and blankets so we were very cosy. We had a very minor issue on Sunday and i called the agent Monday morning and they sorted it immediately. The only critic i have is that it would have been good to have a little salt and pepper and maybe some olive oil as we had to buy this and only used a teaspoon full but having said that we had milk and a bottle of cava in our fridge ( don't know if the house provided or they had been left by the previous tenant) The pool was lovely ( bit chilly) and we spent many hours sitting by it,reading drinking a G and T and gazing at the views. The area was stunning, the locals very friendly and we had what we wanted - a quiet beautiful villa, away from the crowds ( except one donkey and a very persistent owl) Heads up- you do need a car and the Italians do like driving an inch from your back wheel plus a lot of narrow mountain road so you have to be a bit brave. Supermarket is 10-15 minutes drive and has everything you could need but unlike UK you need to bag and weigh your fruit and veg before the till . We didn't have a bad meal out but favourite was Il Pozzo in Pieve Fosciana
Booking highly recommended- can we come back please?
Pisa airport is say a 1 hour 15 minute drive from the property.
Car hire recommended.

Situated less than a 5 min drive from the Mediaeval town of Barga, with its hilly windy cobbled streets, duomos, 10th Century cathedral and ancient architecture.
