About Jane Ord
We run a family farm in North Northumberland, a beautiful part of the world, steeped in history & panoramic landscapes. Nature, wildlife & our animals are our neighbours, we enjoy sharing them with our visitors.
Jane Ord purchased this Cottage in 1980
Why Jane Ord chose Chatton
Groom's cottage historically was occupied by the head Groom when the farm was a country hunting park & racing stables. It has been refurbished & is now a cosy retreat close to the hills & the coast.
What makes this Cottage unique
The cottage sits within it's own walled garden on the edge of our farm. There are many walks from the door step, amble down the river side or go up the hill to the unique, ancient cup & ring marks. Chatton village is a 10 min walk & has a post office/shop, pub & historic church. Within 5/6 miles you can be on Northumberland's amazing beaches, canoeing on it's rivers, walking it's hills in the national park or visiting one of it's many castles. Chatton fishing lakes are within easy walking distance where you do not need a licence to fish.

A great little cottage to explore the area.
We had a really lovely time staying at Grooms Cottage. It had everything you need and added little homely touches. Loved having some homemade Christmas cake left for us.
We took our dog, teddy with us, due to the time of your a lot of places were closed but this didn't put us off as we went more to relax and to do plenty of dog walks. We did a great circular walk from Bambrugh and along the beach, which wasn't far from the cottage. We then went back to the cottage to warm up by the fire. We would definitely recommend the cottage and would love to return to explore further.
So pleased you enjoyed your stay. We would love to welcome you in the summer
Grooms is a lovely cosy cottage on a working farm.
We (2 adults/2 kids) spent 3 days over new year here and were very pleased with the cottage and location. Everything we needed was available and some lovely personal touches like xmas wreaths, tree, tablecloths and also home baking eggs and milk on arrival.
Location is rural so good for walks out of the door, close to village shop/pub but also convenient for east coast - Holy island/Bamburgh 30 minute drive.
We would definitely stay here again if we plan back to Northumberland.
Warm and cosy cottage
Enjoyed a few days at Groom’s Cottage. Well equipped kitchen and nice touches left by the host, including fresh farm eggs and fairy cakes on arrival. Beautiful part of the world. The beaches are outstanding.
So pleased you enjoyed your stay. We hope to welcome you again one day soon.
Clean on arrival, very well equipped, good location, warm and friendly welcome from owners helfull
Plenty of advice available from the owners. some beautiful home made cakes, half a dozen eggs and a vase of roses in the cottage for us. We had a fabulous time there with our dog. The garden is walled off and with gates though it didn't stop the occasional chicken from getting in. Very cute cottage but had a few large spiders in must be the time of year. Would definitely go again. Perfect for branching out from. Several gorgeous beaches within 10 to minutes drive to. Visited Holy Island which for me was a must. There are so many places of interest to visit around and the beautiful Cheveats where we saw some amazing sun sets. Also the perfect place for stargazing at nights. So beautiful never seen so many stars. Beds made up for us on arrival and towels there too.
How nice to hear that Groom's Cottage contributed to your successful holiday. We work hard to welcome all our guests & our 4 legged friends.
