The floor plan has as an open plan lounge/kitchen/diner, two courtyard facing bedrooms and a separate shower/WC room along the hall beyond the master bedroom. The courtyard is exclusively for Alouette guests and adjacent to the cottage is an open barn which is an Al Fresco dining area. The cottage contains all the modern day appliances that one would need. About Stephen and Catherine
We spent over 2 years, countless hours of internet browsing and several visits to find Tillac in beautiful Charente. We have the opportunity to share the property and surrounding's with family, friends and future guests who we are sure will enjoy it as much as we do.
Stephen and Catherine purchased this Cottage in 2017
Why Stephen and Catherine chose Plassac-Rouffiac
The heated pool allows us to operate an extended summer season with temperatures in the mid 20c to the end of September. With little or no light, noise and air pollution, Tillac is a place of peace and tranquility in which to relax and unwind during your holiday vacation. Whilst being located in a small hamlet in a countryside location, the village of Mouthe-sur-Boeme is a short 4 km drive away. Villebois Lavalette with it's chateau is within a 15 minute country lane drive.
What makes this Cottage unique
Tillac consists of two Gites, a cottage and owners accommodation. Families who have a dream to holiday together can rent the 2 Gites (capacity 14) which have a connecting door or extend that to include the cottage making the capacity 19. Holidaying together will create a truly fabulous family holiday experience and everlasting memories. We fell in love with this property because of the peace and tranquility, the clean air and country location that make Tillac a great place to relax in a stress free environment. Clear night skies, Crain and Swallow bird migrations and a varied garden are ideal for photographers, nature lovers and painters alike. The surrounding country lanes and pretty villages provide mile upon mile of opportunity for walkers/hikers and cyclists

The most relaxing family holiday we've had in years.
The owners, Steve and Rosemary made this holiday for us! They are a perfectly charming couple, who were friendly, helpful, always there when you had a question, but not intrusive. We stayed in Alouette, which is quite dated internally, although the beds were comfortable and the bedding modern and clean. The cottage was well equipped and the TV had English TV channels. We really enjoyed the use of the "outdoor kitchen", with a large table, BBQ and oven. We ate all of our meals in there. It was also a great place to be outdoors but dry, on the one wet morning we had. The grounds, shared with the owners and the two other holiday gites (Tillac), were beautiful and had stunning views. There was plenty of space for everyone, again the outdoor eating area with Alouette was a great, private space.. The pool was well-kept and warm. We were quite happy to stock up the fridge/freezer and stay at Alouette most of the time, knowing we had a hectic few days in Disneyland Paris to follow (would do it the other way around next time!!) We did have a trip to nearby Angouleme, to see the famous comic strip murals on the buildings, walk around the city walls and visit the museum. I loved Brantome! Walking along the river, boat trip, lovely places to eat, stunning architecture, beautiful gardens, interesting Abbey, play areas and "crazy golf" for the kids. We could have stayed there forever.....
We would like to wish Rosemary and Steve all the best for their return to family life in the UK and the new owners the best of luck with their new venture!
We thank you for the valuable and positive feedback. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us at Tillac and we perhaps look forward to welcoming you on your next visit to the Charente.
Alouette is going to receive a refresh over the winter season, but for sure, the peace, ambiance and tranquility will remain the same.

Wonderful relaxing holiday in lovely countryside
Our small family of three have just returned from a fantastic holiday at Alouette, which was everything we hoped it would be. The courtyard cottage had the French 'rustic' feel we craved and the weather was fantasticly hot too, thus enabling us to make full use of the lovely pool and its open views across the adjacent sunflower fields. The cottage had everything we needed and we especially loved the outside eating area where we would sit every night listening to music with a drink in hand after a BBQ'd dinner of lovely local produce. At night the sky was so clear that stargazing became a late night habit in order to spot the many shooting stars - amazing! Steve & Rosemary were lovely friendly owners who offered us tips and advice on great places to go and we took full advantage, always knowing that we had the cool of the shady cottage to come back to or a dip in the pool to cool off in. We visited Brantome for a great family kayaking trip, navigating the river (and infamous weir) around the beautiful town centre. We went to nearby Angouleme which was a lovely city with bars and shops and lovely views from the Cathedral. We also had great fun & a picnic on the velo-rail (family pedal cycle through shady woods along the old railway line) from Roumazieres to Manot. Aubeterre-sur-Drone with it's lovely village square was also well worth a visit. We also went along to the Thursday night market at the nearby village of Mouthiers-sur-Boeme where we sat amongst the local community and enjoyed food and drink bought from the local vendors whilst soaking up the friendly ambience. All in all a fantastic holiday and I would have no hesitation in returning to or recommending Alouette.
Thank you Steve & Rosemary for some great memories.

Lovely cottage in rural France
Small, well equipped cottage with a shared swimming pool, which was a perfect base to explore this part of France. Our hosts were on site, and very helpful with suggestions of days out & places to visit. (Check their very informative website first). We were also offered very helpful directions from our first stop in the Loire valley. A very relaxing break, and we'd definitely love to come back. The two gites are also fantastic if you're looking for accommodation for a larger group!
Many thanks for this informative review. We are pleased that Alouette was satisfactoryin meeting your needs and we are happy that you have enjoyed a relaxing week and that you would love to return here one day.

We stayed at Aloutte for a week from July 22nd till July 29th 2018. Stephen and Catherine are excellent hosts, very friendly and always helpful. The cottage itself looks great, it was very clean and well-maintained. The beds are good, the kitchen has everything you need, and it's great to have a barbecue in the courtyard. Best of all is the location: in amongst the sunflower fields and really out in the country. Great place to watch the stars. Stephen got us a number of Cycling routes and we went cycling from Alouette 2 times. There are no epic climbs (after all it's not the Alpes) but it is a gorgeous part of France and there's hardly any traffic. Perfect for cycling. We had a great time at Alouette and would certainly recommend it!
