Newly Developed Gite
Large newly renovated four bedroom farmhouse with adjoining one bedroom gite ) set in peaceful rural hamlet two km from beautiful local village of Nanteuil-en-Valee.This bright,spacious, stone farmhouse has been sympathetically restored to keep its traditional character with double french doors to all ground floor rooms.
The farmhouse, of area 270 square metres, can comfortably accomodate up to ten people and if the adjoining gite (area 55 square metres) is included this number can reach fourteen or fifteen.
To the front of the house is the the large gravelled courtyard area for parking which can comfortably accommodate up to eight cars. Opposite the house are numerous farm buildings including a chicken shed and massive bread oven which was formerly used as a communal oven for the hamlet.
To the rear is the patio area which is partially paved with concrete slabs and partially gravelled. The barbeques and several lounge seats are in this area with the large outdoor table in the 12 metre squared covered area to facilitate al fresco dining in the shade. Extra outdoor table and chairs are available if the numbers demand.
The large garden area (slightly less than one acre) is accessed by descending steps from the patio as is the 5.4 metre diameter swimming pool (not the same steps!). Access to the pool is guarded by a lockable gate. The pool and patio areas, as well as parts of the garden, are afforded intermittent shade by the numerous very tall trees which surround the area.
There's an extensive range of sporting utensils e.g.tennis rackets, cricket bat, hurleys, footballs, rugby balls, golf clubs, boules,croquet set for use in the garden area. Several bicycles and one adult tricycle are provided along with helmets.
The farmhouse is situated in the quiet peaceful hamlet of La Couriere roughly one km from the small village of Messeux.
The local village of Nanteuil en Vallee (2 km) is surrounded by woods and fields and the Rivers Argentor and Charente are ideal for walking along, running and cycling. The village has two excellent restaurants, bar, small grocery shop, pizza restaurant, hairdressers and a very good butcher shop. The town of Ruffec (12 km) offers the usual medium town facilities including 3 Supermarkets, banking facilities, indoor swimming pool, cinema, restaurants, fast food (including McD’s) & Tourist office. Markets on Wednesday & Saturday mornings.The leisure area at Le Rejallant (8 km) has been recently revamped to a high standard and offers swimming facilities and children's paddling areas and the option to hire canoes and kayaks to explore more of the river.
Other small towns within 20 minutes drive are Champagne Mouton, Civray and the picturesque Verteuil sur Charente.
The city of Angouleme is just over 40 minutes drive away and Poitiers is an hour's drive.

Pool / Spa
The owner was very accommodating of our small children and brought a playhouse small table & chairs round for them. Kids loved the pool & the outside area & views are gorgeous. Inside was spacious & nicely done out. Very rural pretty spot.

We chose this particular area because of its consistently pleasant climate (second only to the Cote d'Azur) its peaceful location with gentle rolling hills, sunflower fields and woodlands lots of interesting wildlife, lovely food and wine and very interesting and friendly neighbours! It's proximity to swimming lakes and rivers at La Rejallant, as well as nearby picturesque villages of Nanteuil and Verteuil is a major selling point. The site is on a quiet cul de sac with no passing traffic, yet within a few minutes drive you could be enjoying a bustling market, or quiet meal/drink in the lively town square of Ruffec.
