About Eileen Davies
I was brought up in the highlands of Scotland, but moved to London for my career working in the London Metropolitan Police. It was there that I met my husband John. The job was great and we loved living in London, but I always missed the beauty and space back home. We knew that when we retired we would live somewhere, where we could enjoy country life again. Now we live in the most stunning countryside, and I have time to tend my vegetables and indulge my passion for cooking.
Eileen Davies purchased this Cottage in 2006
Why Eileen Davies chose Saint-Pierre-Chérignat
I grew up in a farming community and farming is at the heart of this community too. The area is wooded and hilly, and completely unspoilt. There is a hidden creek, or lovely ancient church at every turn, and yet the area is largely undiscovered. There is masses to do here, but you rarely see tourists.
What makes this Cottage unique
Chez Dindon is converted from old stable buildings, and has individual character and charm. The rooms are spacious and airy, and the original stone walls and windows are very attractive. The cottage has been beautifully decorated. The kitchen is fully fitted and has everything a keen cook might need.

We stayed at John and Eillens wonderful property for 5 nights. The accomodation is lovely and is like a home away from home. There is everything you need, the place is clean and the bed is really comfortable. Sit and relax in the private garden overlooking beautiful countryside or take a walk down the country lanes. This truly is a hidden gem run by really lovely people.
Hi Annie and Mick,
Thank you so much for the lovely review. We hope to see you again soon and can't wait for us to be neighbours.
Fingers crossed all goes well.
John and Eileen
We had a fantastic stay
It was a home from home.
Spacious rustic gite in quiet countryside
We very much enjoyed our week at Chez Dindon. Eileen and John who live in the farmhouse are very friendly and helpful but not intrusive. The bedroom is huge with a roomy ensuite. The kitchen has numerous pots, pans, dishes etc and also useful pantry items. The garden and terrace catch the sunshine and was lovely to come back to. We really enjoyed exploring the area. Particularly Bourganeuf, Aubusson, Lac Vassiviere and St Leonard de Noblat. We had a day in Limoges and another trip out to Oradour sur Glane to the Memory Museum which was very interesting and thought provoking.
Thank you so much. We enjoyed having you stay and hope to see you again soon.
Lovely stay over christmas
Stayed in this lovely cottage for a few weeks over christmas.very comfortable and cosy ,had everything we needed and more,in a very beautiful location.thankyou eileen and John ,so kind and helpful.would recommend a stay here to anyone.
The accommodation was light and airy with a fabulous patio area. The gardens are lovely and picturesque. The cottage was well equipped and clean.
The hosts were very welcoming and there was lots to do in the area.
We enjoyed tennis locally and swimming in the river, great for kids.
We will definitely return!
Peace in Our Time!
If you're looking for a fabulous gite, with the most genial of hosts, you couldn't do any better than stay at Eileen's & John's. The gite is extremely comfortable and the views from the patio are magnificent. And, if you like cats and kittens - you'll be in feline heaven! The larger towns of Bourganeuf & St Leonard de Noblat are easily accessible and are lovely to visit. Eileen is a first-rate cook and 25 Euros is as small price to pay for a fantastic three-course meal, wine at no extra cost! All-in-all, I 'd recommend the gite to anyone who's looking for a tranquil, restful stay in the most beautiful part of France. Many thanks to Eileen and John for making it restful week! James, Essex.
There is a sandy river beach for swimming, 5km from the cottage.
