About Paul Paxton
Hi, this is me and my son out for a walk in the lake district after a nice steam train ride from Ravensglass
Paul Paxton purchased this Cabin in 2011
Why Paul Paxton chose Windermere
The Lake District is a lovely place where there is something for everyone. A great place to get away from the city and enjoy the walks, scenery and activities that it has to offer.
What makes this Cabin unique
White Cross Bay is set in the heart of the lakes, making it a great base to explore the Lake District.

Weekend in White Cross Bay
Extremely comfortable and well equipped lodge. Very tastefully furnished & decorated and situated perfectly in a quiet cul-de-sac on the site. Would definitely recommend.
Modern, clean and comfortable.
Great location and cosy to come back to after a day's walking. Most places a short drive away and easy to get to.
Nice quiet comfortable accommodation
Lovely location within a few minutes walk of the Brockhole visitor centre and close to Windermere and Ambleside. Easy enough to get a bus if you don’t fancy fighting with everyone else for a parking spot in the main towns.
The lodge was perfectly sized for 2 adults and 2 children although a minor niggle was not having 4 full sized towels so we ended up having to use small hand towels on the kids (not easy with a 9 year old).
Compact kitchen was fine for basic meals and we didn’t feel the need to eat out. We were lucky enough to have some great weather so using the outdoor deck was nice. Great to have a few dishwasher tablets provided so we didn’t have to worry about constantly keeping on top of the washing up.
Bedrooms were comfortable and the master bedroom’s en-suite was handy. Generally very clean throughout although the cleaners had missed a few bits (superficial dusting only and I made the mistake of looking behind the TV in the bedroom). Not a major concern but I’m sure the owner would like to know.
If you are an internet addict be aware that the on site Wi-fi is only good for basic browsing and local network signal strength is on the low side. We didn’t really care but I know that this is important to some.
So ultimately everything you could wish for a short break in the Lake District. Would happily return again.
This was a beautiful lodge, lovely, clean, modern and spacious. It is in a great location for exploring the lakes and the site was lovely. We have two young children and would thoroughly recommend this to other couple or families.
Fantastic trip to the lakes
We stayed for 4 nights the first week of April. We had a wonderful stay at the lodge, it was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Paul provides a cot and highchair which was just brilliant and our little girl had an amazing time and the home was nice and safe and secure for her. Great amenities on site. We walked to Windermere just under 3 miles and also did a brilliant boat trip from Brockhole which is a short walk up the hill. Only issue during school holidays you have to book slots for swimming and naturally they get booked up quickly. We would definitely come back. It was wonderful. Thanks Paul
The lodge was exactly how it looked on the pictures. It was a really nice and quiet area and was good to be able to relax.
The nearest train station is in Windermere, a short drive away from White Cross Bay Holiday Park.
Bowness on Windermere - 2 miles
Ambleside - 2 miles
Grasmere - 7 miles
Keswick - 20 miles
Distances are a rough estimate.
