Just perfect! I can't think of anything negative to say.
Vivienne provided very good directions which we failed to check on our phones until we lost WiFi or phone signals! Under normal circumstances the absence of these would be a problem but we found the property easily and logged into the guest WiFi on arrival. With no phone signal we quickly succumbed to the enforced break from work - after all, we were on holiday!
The cottage is nestled at the end of a narrow, winding, single track country lane and enjoys the stunning scenery of beautiful rolling hills.
The cottage is in the grounds of the owner's (Vivienne's) house and she met and greeted us on arrival, though quickly left us to get ourselves organised.
We loved how Vivienne and her husband had lovingly restored and decorated the former barn which was to be home to my wife, dog and me for the duration of this year's Badminton Horse Trials.
The wonderful and thoughtful touches of freshly (still warm) baked bread, home baked cake, fresh eggs, butter, bacon and milk which awaited us were an extremely welcome surprise.
Our two year old labrador, Ben, was also made welcome and Vivienne even made her lovely Border Collie, Megan, available as a playmate for him (sorry that he disappeared into your house that evening!)
All in all, we loved it and wished we could stay longer so would definitely like to come back (although we'll have another Labrador next year so may not be possible) and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
Well done Vivienne and husband (sorry we didn't get to meet him as he was always busy).
Short Break at the Barn
We have just enjoyed a wonderful few days staying at the Barn. It is simply beautiful. Stunning location and gorgeous accommodation. The barn is wonderfully designed. Our family of 4, with puppy, felt very comfortable. There was plenty of space. We enjoyed lovely walks directly from the barn, and also explored the city of Bath. The owners are so friendly and helpful, and they welcomed us with freshly made bread, and cakes, as well a providing butter, milk and eggs. We certainly plan to return.
A magical place to stay just outside of Bath
It's worth visiting just for the homemade cake and bread but there's so much more. Near perfect and can't wait to stay there again. Many thanks Vivien and Richard, it was just wonderful!
We have had a great time the few days we stayed. Thanks for the nice homemade bread and lemon cake, we enjoyed them. Vivianne was very kind with us leaving those presents at the fridge. We will be back again!
Beautiful scenery, beautiful cottage..quiet,close to Bath
Hosts were wonderful! Scenery was beautiful, close to Bath. All the amenities were stocked and the cottage was beautiful! Lovely quiet country setting but close to pubs nearby ,The George & Dragon, for one. Had an awesome trip!
We had a wonderful stay over new year. Vivienne was so welcoming and helpful - evening inviting us to enjoy some fireworks at midnight on New Year’s Eve which we loved! Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. The fresh bread, eggs, cake, and bacon were also lovely. Thanks so much so making our new year special.
