Wonderful apartment with stunning views in a secluded and tranquil setting
We had a fantastic time in Tavernelle staying at the wonderful Casa Giulia. The apartment had everything we needed, and one of the most incredible views we had ever enjoyed from a rented apartment! The area itself is cheerful and secluded; not the place to stay if you're looking for nightlife! On the other hand, if you're looking to stay in one of the most stunning mountainous regions in Europe, it will be right up your street! Sheila was very helpful throughout our stay, booking us a table at the fantastic 'Montagne Verde Agroturismo' worth a trip just for the view! All in all a wonderful apartment perfectly located and stocked for our needs. Highly recommended.
We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Casa Giulia and experienced the friendliness of the village and the beauty of the surroundings. .Thank you for your kind comments and we hope that we may soon welcome you back to Casa Giulia and Tavernelle.
We loved every moment of our stay at Casa Giulia. The apartment is delightfully quaint, with a fabulous view over the surrounding area from the terrace. Many thanks Sheila for the 'welcome' basket of goodies (we particularly enjoyed the wine).
We enjoyed several walks in the woods around the village (and a lovely walk along by the river). Thanks also for your 'advice folder', with useful tips about places that might be worth visiting and local restaurants - it was much appreciated.
As well as walking in the woods, we visited Aulla (on market day), Lerici, Cinque Terre (we walked between Monterosso and Vernazza - it was a 2 hour walk on a hot day. In hindsight, it might have been better to get the ferry from village to village! Nevertheless, the coastline is spectacular and the view along the route is pretty special), and Forte dei Marmi (on Wednesday, market day - a fashion market - lots of fun).
We would highly recommend Casa Giulia to anything thinking of staying in this part of Italy.
We are delighted that you so enjoyed Casa Giulia and the beautiful surrounding region. We have loved it for the past 25 years and it is always gratifying when our guests share our enthusiasm for the area. I hope that we will soon be able to welcome you back.
Restful holiday in tranquil very charming environment
We spent 6 sunny days in this very charming apartment with a terrific terrace overviewing the beautiful medieval village. From the terrace you hear only birds, donkeys, the stream below... quiet, tranquil place. Exactly what we were looking for.
We enjoyed the area very much for hiking and gorging in the delicious Tuscan/Italian food.
Thanks Sheila and Michael for receiving us and for being helpful with information - we may be back some day.
Best regards, Morten and Githa, Denmark
We are so pleased that you had such a great stay at Casa Giulia. Yes, I agree that the food in the area is delicious....... Wonderful regional dishes at a great price! We would love to welcome you back and look forward to meeting you again. Many thanks for a lovely review. Sheila.
Beautiful and Relaxing
We had a fantastic week at Casa Giulia - relaxing on the beautiful terrace, admiring the fantastic scenery. We dragged ourselves away from the terrace to explore the local towns and villages and the local cuisine.
A week well spent!
I am delighted that you both enjoyed yourself so much at Casa Giulia and that you spent time relaxing on the terrace. Pleased also that you visited some of the local towns and villages.....Lunigiana is an interesting and beautiful region of Italy. The local food is so fresh and good ....and at what a great price!
Beautiful apartment in a stunning setting
We could not have asked for more from our stay in Tavernelle. Nestled in the rugged Italian mountains but easily accessible by car and with great local amenities. The apartment itself is excellent, we were surprised by how big it was, the photos do not do justice to the beautiful balcony and living area, let alone the stunning views around it! The property was clean and everything worked as it should/was described. It was great to have wifi which worked so well up in the hills. The local area has a brilliant butchers shop and lovely authentic Italian bar which serves incredible pizza at the weekend. For larger shopping trips we tended to head into Licciana Nardi just down the road which has a bigger butchers shop, bread and large grocers, the italian produce in this area is great. Whilst there are numerous activities and restaurants in the area, we mostly found ourselves cooking in the apartment and enjoying the balcony in the sun. However we did enjoying running around the mountain roads and rugged walking paths. All in all I could not recommend Casa Guila highly enough, an excellent trip, if only it had been another week! Thanks, Alex
What a wonderful reaction to Casa Giulia! I am so pleased that you both had such a great stay at Casa Giula and that you liked the area and Tavernelle so much. I agree the food in the area is amazing and so fresh.......and at a great price! We would love to welcome you back as the local people said. ' una bella coppia!'
Italy At Its Best
Casa Guilia is a splendidly situated and well equipped property having magnificent views of majestic mountains and valleys.
Despite being in a mountain village, it is a mere twenty minutes by car to the coastal plain and the nearest town, Aulla. The Rail Station there means you can leave the car for the day and travel easily and cheaply to Lucca ( Take the scenic route via Piazza al Serchio as it’s a joy), Sarzana (For the old town and market) and the Cinque Terre via La Spezia (Which we’ll do on a return visit).
Otherwise, there’s an extensive choice of fabulous circular day drives and scenic walks direct from the village. It takes a mere half-hour by car to cross the border into Emilia Romagna and the Apennines . The Bay of Poets is worth a trip, too.
In fact, the entire area is blessed with natural wonders, good food and wine and is not overrun by mass tourism. Go, and immerse yourself in the culture of a lesser known, yet beautiful, part of Italy.
We are absolutely delighted that your holiday at Casa Giulia was so enjoyable . Glad also that you liked the area so much......you certainly got around! I agree that it is a wonderful part of Italy with so much to do and experience. Thank you for your kind comments when you were leaving and also for your restaurant recommendation! We look forward to welcoming you back....you were delightful guests!
