A fabulous place to visit
I had trouble opening the door to the apartment also the carpet on the stairs leading up appears to have a hole in it so should be replaced sometime in the near future if not someone could trip and hurt themselves quite badly . I just want to point out that the top bunk bed mattress needs replacing as the springs are coming through my son didn’t sleep very well other than them problems I wouldn’t hesitate to book again
Good central property
Good 3 bed apartment. Plenty of room. Facilities great for our weekend stay. Fab central location. Property fronts on to Silver street which can be a little noisy on an evening but not intrusive. Parking permit provided with apartment but difficult as permit system is very oversubscribed. Ideal family accommodation.
Spacious Central Apartment.......but not Luxury
This is a very conveniently located apartment, overlooking the shops on Skinner St, accessed via a flight of stairs at the back of the building. My first impression upon entering the stairwell was the overpowering smell of damp. Fortunately this didn't continue into the flat. The carpet on the stairwell was very thin and threadbear too, again, not up to luxury standard.
The flat was clean and spacious with good sized bedrooms. The kitchen was dated and could do with a refit. The oven was an old style with solid electric hobs, not easy to control. You may think I'm being picky and a little harsh, but I stay in a lot of self catering flats and they are of a much higher standard in general. The windows in the flat are all original single glaze sash, so it could be noisy at night with one or two boy racers speeding down the street.
The equipment in the kitchen is adequate, but has a mix of crockery, pans, cutlery etc, which look a little cheap. I'm sorry to say that the kitchen window was filthy too. A wooden blind at the window was fully down when we arrived and when I pulled it up, I was shocked at the state of it. Very dirty glass and dusty frame.
The flat was warm enough though, the heating worked well. The table in the lounge is nice and big, but quite wobbly, with one leg almost coming off.
As I said, I've stopped in apartments classed as luxury, and they were, but this one isn't. It's adequate and comfortable, but the luxury label needs removing.

Nice quiet area,. Close enough to front. Clean tidy. We would book again.
Dusty threadbare carpet on the stairs and stale, damp smell in the appartment.
Once we had opened all the windows (those that would open!) we could see that the bedrooms were clean and comfortable. Also clean fresh bathroom with plenty of fluffy towels. However the kitchen did not have a full set of plates, bowls, mugs and glasses without some being chipped. only 2 small glasses for juice, no potato peeler and could have done with another medium sized pan.
Right hand blind in main bedroom did not come down easily. I think the central string had been broken.
Outside light did not always come on when we returned after dark but it did not help to put the code in the keysafe to retrieve the keys. We had to leave the keys there when we went out as the 3 of us did not go out together most of the time.
Spacious well equipped apartment in central location
The apartment is situated very close to the beach, harbour and all amenities. Plenty of room for our family of 4 and all you need while on holiday. Parking wasn’t too difficult, we managed to find a space within the designated area which is close enough to the apartment when loading and unloading. The street outside can be noisy, particularly when the pub up the road has live music on/people leaving afterwards and in the morning with the refuse collections, but just what you get when you choose a property that is right in the heart of the town, there are plenty of upsides. The walk to the apartment from the town is steep, then two flights of stairs, but no problem if you are reasonably fit and able. Whitby itself is charming and a great destination for a family holiday.
The west cliff, both piers and the beaches of Whitby are all just a few hundred yards from the apartment.
