About Peter & Mandy Daley
We have owned honeysuckle Cottage for six years now. We are both lucky enough to have be brought up on the Isle of Wight. We chose Honeysuckle Cottage for its great location, quiet yet close to the old Village, parks and countryside, perfect for our family. We have three children, one boy and two girls , they all love Shanklin and the beach and can't wait to stay in the cottage. Being a close family all hands are on deck, our mums are a great help, we have lovely housekeepers and their families who also help, and two very willing gardenes who turn their hands to almost anything. Knowing how much families have to take with them on holiday we have tried to think of everything so that all that needs to be had is a good time! We really hope you love the cottage and The Isle of Wight as much as we do.
Peter & Mandy Daley purchased this Cottage in 2010
Why Peter & Mandy Daley chose Shanklin
We chose Honeysuckle cottage for its great location, we also have Jasmine and Clematis either side, these were bought later, and are also holiday cottages, we were finding it hard to find a week free for ourselves! We love how close it is to the beach, water-sports, The Old Village, parks, and great countryside. The size of the garden was another great plus as we have very active children with plenty of energy. Our children love the rabbits on the lawn and looking out for and feeding the squirrels in the winter, they are getting very cheeky! We love the fact that you feel miles away from the bustle of a busy seaside town, yet are close enough that within a few minutes walk you can be part of it.
What makes this Cottage unique
Honeysuckle cottage for us is a relaxing holiday, surrounded by plenty of things to do and see, or just watch the children play in the garden. The red squirrels are facinating to watch and are getting quite brave! The Old Village has many places to eat out, its nice to walk down in the evening, without the worry of the car, or to stop for dinner or a drink on the way back from the beach. Rylstone Gardens, only a couple of minutes walk away has a crazy golf garden that's fun and café and sometimes in the summer has bands playing in the bandstand. The Island has so many different things of interest, festivals, carnivals, plenty of village shows, history, theatre, zoo's, and much more and none of them are more than an hour away. We have tried to make Honeysuckle cottage as child friendly as possible, stair gates, bed guards, toys, books, DVD's and a great garden to explore, so that you can make your holiday as relaxing and enjoyable as possible.

A comfortable and well equipped cottage
We had an very enjoyable stay at Jasmine Cottage, the grandchildren especially liked the garden play equipment which gave then hours of enjoyment. Seeing red squirrels in the garden was very special. We found that the cottage was very well equipped with everything we needed, which made our stay very relaxing and most enjoyable.
Lovely stress-free stay
We (grandmother, parents and boys aged 7 and 5) have just returned from a lovely stay in Chestnut Mews. We chose Honeysuckle Cottage as having access to the shared garden, our children loved playing with the kids next door. It was easy to book and pay via email / bank transfer.
The cottage is in a wonderful location, 10ins max walk via steps to the quiet end of Shanklin beach, 5 mins to old village and 10 minutes to new part. Several supermarkets in Shanklin, could walk to co-op or drive to large Morrisons. Easy to walk to the village for dinner and perhaps visit the chine when it's lit up for the evening, a magical experience only 5 minutes saunter from the doorstep.
The cottage is really well equipped with all you could need, such as coffee machine, slow cooker, barbeque, cot, high chair, potty and even lego. It was great to put a roast in the slow cooker and spend the day at Osborne House etc. to return to a cooked dinner.
Everything is very clean, the kitchen and bathroom are recently renovated and there is plenty of hot water. There is a washing machine and dishwasher to take the stress out of your day. There are 3 toilets, we found this a big plus compared to many other cottages on the island which may have looked quainter but did not offer the same facilities or location.
The communication prior to, during and after our stay was irreproachable. We will be returning and would not hesitate to recommend to others. Thanks to Peter and Mandy for a lovely stay.
We have been coming to the cottages now for 5yrs and over the years stayed in all 3 cottages. We have a fantastic holiday every year and the cottages are stunning, they are clean, homely and have everything you need for your stay and more.
You feel at home as soon as you walk through the door. In a great location so can walk to everywhere you need to in Shanklin, 5 minute walk to the Old Village and Chine.
Just perfect, another fantastic hiday and can't wait till next year.
Wonderful cottage and a perfect location!
This was our first visit to the Isle of Wight with our nearly 3 year-old daughter. We couldn't have asked for a better base from which to explore the island. The house is large, clean and has excellent facilities for the whole family. The garden was a real surprise and has numerous wendy houses, climbing frames and toys etc to keep the children entertained. The location is ideal as only a short drive from most of the attractions and only a 5 minute walk into Shanklin Old Village from where you can access the beach via Shanklin Chine. We would definitely stay here again if and when we next visit the Isle of Wight.
Fantastic holiday home
Our second stay at Clematis Cottage, and I can honestly say that it is one of the best properties we have stayed in. Very clean, well equipped and maintained. Perfect base for our family holiday. Highly recommend.
we have stayed at the wonderful Chestnut Mews a few times over the past couple of years and each time we can't praise them enough. They are so well kept and maintained, tastefully decorated, yet comfortable enough to feel at home and relaxed. The gardens are great and perfect for kids to play or the grown ups to sit out and relax on the decking. The cottages are in an ideal location for the Old Village, Shanklin town, the beach, gardens and much more. We can't wait to visit again.
The Cliff Path and Steps leading to Appley Beach, the quieter end of Shanklin’s Beach, takes approximately a ten minute walk. Or alternatively, you can stroll along a tarmac path, via the Old Village and park (easier for prams and the less agile) which also only takes about ten minutes to get to Shanklin’s main Beach and the esplanade, with its gift shops, coffee shops and amusements. The beaches at Shanklin hold the water quality award, for its clean waters and safe bathing.
Entertainment; Shanklin has its own Theatre which is open all year round hosting a full programme of professional and amateur productions. Our Children love the Christmas pantomime. Shanklin chine is in the center of the old village, for almost 200 years it has been enjoyed for its peace, tranquility and natural beauty. As you wander through the woodland, passing waterfalls and following the stream down to the sea, you’ll soon see why this famous gorge has inspired poets, artists and writers. Between Shanklin and Sandown is Wight Water Adventure sport who can offer you professional watersports packages across a broad range of water-based activities, tuition to suit all needs and abilities. There are over 500 miles of footpaths and 200 miles of cycle tracks, that mixed with fact that half of the Isle of wight is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty makes walking and cycling a pleasure. You can join dinosaur walks, have a game of golf, go to Sandown Zoo, Blackgang Chine, Robin Hill, a little further a field Osbourne House, Alum bay,Amazon World, The Garlic Farm ( luckily they do provide mints!) And so much more.
