There is free unlimited BT Broadband available. and the cottage is on the Northumberland cycle route, and accesses some wonderful coastal and country walks with its location a mile from Warkworth. Safe off-road parking at the rear. There are all the shops you could need, an award winning fish and chip shop, numerous restaurants and an Italian ice cream parlour within a ten minute walk, and on the way you can watch the fisherman land their catch, take in the view of Warkworth Castle and the river Coquet and see the yachts in the marina. About Sandra Ridley
My name is Sandra Ridley and I actually grew up in the property which my parents bought in 1954, so you see I love it, and we also use it, which is why it is so well equipped and comfortable. We live near York and in winter in South Africa. I went to school in Morpeth and my parents had a shop in Amble. Family and old friends are still in Northumberland.

Why Sandra Ridley chose Amble
My parents bought the house in 1954 and the front room was a sweet shop which my mother ran so she could be at home for me. We kept the house after my mum had to go into a home suffering sadly from dementia, where she died in 2006. We eventually decided to rent the house to allow us to keep it. We still enjoy it, and the feedback from guests has given us great pleasure. Our aim is to make it a comfortable place to be, and it seems our guests agree with us.
What makes this Cottage unique
Amble is becoming a unique place, as it is a small town with all the facilities you could need within walking distance, however because it is bounded by the sea and the river Coquet, it is also very open, with lots of walks and the beaches. Our property is one of the closest to the sea, being the last of the terraces before the beach and piers, open at the rear with safe off street parking. It is also one of the largest of the cottages in the town, deceptively spacious "like a Tardis" as more than one guest remarked.
The house was centrally located for shops, harbour, walks along the front but quiet. Handy parking round the back. It was clean and well-equipped. The rooms were attractive and comfortable. We visited some country houses- Chillingham, Howick House and gardens, Warkworth Castle, Nature Reserve, Barter Books in Alnwick and went beach walks. Amble is a good base for visiting these places. Previously visited Cragside and Wallingham and walked at Rothbury. Sandra was friendly and quick to correspond and gave clear instructions for directions and getting the key etc
Thank you for taking the time to give us such a good review. We aim to give our guests a clean, well-equipped, comfortable house, they can just settle into and enjoy the area. Seems with all our annual upgrades to rooms, we are doing OK.
Lovely warm, well equipped and furnished seaside property
The owners have obviously taken great care to furnish and equip this old property, keeping original fireplaces, even in bedrooms. The beds are very comfortable, and the bedding and towels of excellent quality.
There are lots of restaurants and cafes in the area and it is very well placed to enjoy the best of Northumberland, coast and country.
Full of character
We were glad of the heating on arrival as the weather was not ideal. The cottage was very cosy although on occasion it would have been nice to open the window a little. The kitchen was well stocked and the welcome pack was much appreciated by all. The cottage is very well sited for both coastal and inland trips and I was able to return to Cragside 27 years on to find it better than I remembered! All the relevant amenities are close by (walking distance) along with lovely walks along the dunes and around the market and 'craft pods'

All bedrooms and bathrooms have windows that open, as should the kitchen. We have paid to have old paint removed and windows made to open and then the next time they are painted, we find when we go up to the house, they are sealed up again. Somehow we prefer just to open the doors as its quite safe, and the two living rooms both have opening doors, one in the kitchen the other has a front porch. In Northumberland we can manage the temperature in the living area by keeping the heaters on an lower setting. We are trying to keep the original sash windows and not succumb to plastic, but they do have their problems.
Warm and comfortable
We enjoyed our stay but were disappointed to find there was no WiFi. The website we had used said there was free wifi
We ordered BT wifi, but they will only post it to the address where it will be used, not to our home 125 miles away, so there has been a delay, as they also need to re-activate the line, and don't work Saturdays - our changeover day. The new date for activation is 29th January, but also HomeAway had ticked the box that Wifi was available, when they bought the Owners Direct agency and added properties to their site. This was an error, however, it will be active for all of 2018.
I do however wish, given our guest said they enjoyed their stay, that they had added something about why it was good, but she wasn't someone who communicated much in the booking. I think you will have to assume from previous guests that it is as it should be, and its a shame to lose our 5 star rating based on purely Wifi alone. I have noticed people are less concerned, as most stay only one week, and also have phones which pick up emails, but be assured it will be available. Costs are just as high for inexpensive rental areas and its a balancing act as to how much you can afford to provide and still make any profit.
Pleasant, well-equipped house, communicative and accomodating host, absolute cleanliness.

We had a really lovely stay at Sandpiper Cortsge. It was comfortable, well equipped, clean and ideal for us having a young family and dog. Very easy to pop out for a walk or to the beach to make a few sand castles! The rooms are very spacious and beds comfortable. There are plenty of good places to eat locally or everything you need in the kitchen to cater for yourself. The fish and chips are excellent - portions are HUGE! And the Boathouse is a must if you enjoy seafood. It's also an ideal location to explore the local area. I would definitely recommend this to anyone wishing to stay in the area.
A perfect review, covers the main things you would hope to find in a holiday cottage and the surrounding area, what more can I say, we are always upgrading, buying new bedding, blinds, and generally ensuring the house never begins to look tired.
50 yards to the nearest beach and to the harbour,river, pier and promenade.
From Amble to the beaches of Warkworth,is 5 minutes. Alnmouth and the town of Alnwick are a further 15 minutes drive or a longer cycle. Rothbury, Wooler and Craster are close, but don't forget Newcastle with its quayside restaurants, galleries, shopping and the Geordie sense of humour.

East coast main line train service to Alnmouth 7 miles away by taxi.
