Lovely house in a great location.
Beautiful and Comfortable Townhouse
The property is exactly as the photographs. It was clean and fresh and we were able to settle in immediately. It is situated in the Barrio Alto so is quiet at all times of the day and Orgiva has a very relaxed feel about it.
We stayed for the month and were well situated for walking in the Alpujarras walking many a path in the Poqueira Valley and the Taha towns with a wonderful backdrop of the snow covered Sierra Navada. The almond trees were in full blossom on the mountain terraces and it was truly a wonderful experience. The Costa Tropical is only a short drive and both Salobrena and Calahonda are a delight to visit. Malaga and Granada are within easy reach for more cultural visits to Museums and Galleries. We didn't have one disappointing day.
Kate was very responsive when we had a problem with TV reception and we were able to watch England beat Wales! A great holiday.
We had a great three-week stay in this beautifully renovated townhouse which sits in a quiet and peaceful spot at the top (barrio alto) of the old part of Orgiva, but is still only a five-minute stroll to the town centre and its array of shops, cafes and bars (all with tapas), as well as the weekly market (not to be missed). The property has been carefully and tastefully furnished/equipped, so has everything needed to make it a real home-from-home. The kitchen and roof terraces provide some great outdoor space and is where we spent most of the time when we were relaxing in the house. With a car, Orgiva is also a good base for exploring the Alpujarras, as well as day trips to Granada (and the Alhambra) or the coast ... there's a good water park for the kids in Almunecar and a great beach at Calahonda (try the Chiringuito Chambao Paco). Kate was very pleasant and easy to deal with, quick to respond to a couple of minor queries and the arrangements for the keys were straightforward. All in all, would highly recommend this excellent property.
We have just returned from a fantastic week in this beautiful house in Orgiva where we visit fairly regularly and this is one of the best places/the best place we have managed to rent in the many years we have been coming here. The house is beautifully furnished, well equipped, clean, homely, comfortable and the views are truly spectacular. Everything works; hot water, wi-fi, cooker, lights, electricity! which is a treat as these things are not always reliable in other rentals! It was so nice to sit on the terrace with pretty fairlylights all around the terrace walls, gorgeous outdoor furniture and sail shade and pot plants make a cosy, romantic place to have a quiet drink in the evenings and do some star-gazing. There are lots of places to eat and drink and a delicious free tapa arrives with every drink your order.
There are interesting places to discover/visit in close proximity, little white villages and lots of shops (Pampaneira and Bubion and the Thursday market) selling lovely arts and crafts instead of the average tourist tat. The Buddhist retreat in Capalleira is a lovely walk with breath-taking scenery and a peaceful place to just be and in our opinion this is a 'must-do' for anyone who likes walking, very fresh air! and has a car and an afternoon free as this area is so beautiful. Slightly further away we always visit Granada which has the most incredible view of the Alhambra and the Sierra nevada, wow!, quaint little streets, bars, cafes, the Albaycin (Old Town) is very romantic and pretty.
We will definitely be booking again and would highly recommend this as a beautiful property which offers excellent value for money. 5/5
The apartment is wonderful: clean, spacious, and very close to the centre of the little town, with shops and many nice bars and restaurants. We especially liked the 2 terraces, from which you have a wonderful view on the town and the mountains.
We stayed there during the "Semana Santa" the week before Easter. The processions and the music are very special.
Hello again Mary and Sander! Thank you for giving us such a lovely review and so sorry the initial huccup with the tv reception. I hope you come back soon and my offer of discount for your inconvenience is still valid - just let me know!
Great spot to explore the area
We had a very pleasant week here in Easter 2014. It's a comfortable, simply decorated house, well-located in a quiet part of this friendly town. The bedroom is large, with small windows high up - like being deep down in a ship. Very calm and restful. Upstairs the living room is separated from the main window / terrace door by the galley kitchen, so you're a little isolated from the view, but what a view! Amazing mountains all around. It was a little parky for sitting out but I should imagine that the roof top terrace would be a real asset in hotter weather. There's no dining table inside so in colder weather you're limited to eating out (hardly a problem) or on your lap. Everything worked fine (hot water, wifi) and everything was clean. I would recommend this as a good value spot from which to explore the area - you're within easy reach of Granada, the coast, the Sierra Nevada and the Alpujarras.
Casa Blanca. A luxurious, 3 storey town house with beautiful, private outside terraces, with sun loungers and sofas and breath-taking, panoramic views of the Alpujarras. The house is set in a quiet location, just a few minutes walk and a few streets back from the centre of Orgiva. Nestling on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada, it is a half hour drive to either Granada, The Alhambra / ski slopes or the lovely beach at Salobrena and is a popular, all-year round destination when the cooler seasons attract walkers and climbers to this beautiful landscape.
Ski: The Sierra Nevada and ski resorts just outside Granada are 50-60minute drive from Orgiva.
