About Ralph Kessler
My name is Ralph Kessler. I live close by and take care of the flat. If there are any problems or questions I will come and help! I work as an English teacher in Imperia and speak Italian and understand simple(very simple) German.
Ralph Kessler purchased this Apartment in 2006
Why Ralph Kessler chose Costa Carnara
The property has charm and romance. The position is perfect, peace and quiet but not too far from the town and the sea. The culture and cuisine is simple and genuine. It is real Italy, not on the toursit trail so you can eat well and enjoy yourself and not spend a fortune.
What makes this Apartment unique
The views, the immediately outside. WIFI
We had a fabulous time here, loved the quirky nature of the place whilst having everything we needed. Truly hoping to return one day. Excellent hosts, we feel like we have made new friends.
Nice rural apartment
Very helpfull owners. Well equipted kitchen. Sat-tv with english tv. Lovely terrasse
Fantastic in every way. Ralph, Jill and Susan made us so welcome, we will certainly return.
Fabulous position on a hill, surrended by olive groves. Breakfast on the patio, a walk to Dolcedo for lunch or a walk down the lanes into the olive groves. Maybe a short drive for a meal by the sea at Imperia. All perfect.
Thanks for the great review. Excellent guests!
Bohemian hideaway in the Ligurian hills
Great location away from the hustle and bustle of the towns and yet a short drive from Dolcedo, which has a good range of restaurants from high end to cheap and easy pizza. The apartment is a 20-30 minute drive away from beaches and coastal towns.
The apartment is very characterful and well stocked with items your average tourist will need. If you are looking for minimalist with all mod cons this may not be the apartment for you. Our hosts were extremely helpful and full of local information and advice.
If you need a tranquil nights sleep in full quiet, please note that the church bells are very close to the property and ring throughout the night for some unknown reason they chime twice in the space of 5 mins ... so 12 am is quite interesting!! We did get used to it 😊
Overall a great area, with lots to see and do, no matter what your tastes are. The apartment is a great base to explore from or just sit on the veranda and take in the beautiful views.
A wonderful place to stay. Ralph and Suzie were so welcoming and helpful.
We would definitely recommend this for anyone wanting a quiet retreat in amongst beautiful, natural surroundings.
A very warm welcome
We arrived in the dark to be given a wonderful welcome. My wife and I were meeting up with daughter Polly who lives in Italy. This place is beautifully located and surrounded by moutains and olive trees and suited us perfectly.
The appartment itself is made up of two rooms, kitchen/sitting/dining/two single beds in one and a double bedroom with en suite bathroom in the other.
The walls in both rooms are covered with some very interesting artwork, perhaps not to everone's taste but hugely colourful!
Our hosts could not have been more welcoming and helpful,,,,,we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Special interest holidays:
Immediately outside of the house there is a path leading into the hills with walks that rival the beauty of the cinque terra.
The sea and beaches are four kilometres away.
Nice and Genoa airport are nearby. Public transport reaches very close to the house although we provide parking directly outside the apartment.
The historic town of Dolcedo is 10 mins walk away. The provincial capital Imperia is five kilometres away and has stunning architecture including Parasio a medieval settlement set on a hill above the sea. The seafront of Porto Maurizio has sandy beaches and plenty of night-life. There is a wealth of places to visit including Cervo with its annual music festival and the famous resort of San Remo.
The little town of Dolcedo is a 10 minute walk from our door. This pretty, typically Ligurian town, built along the banks of the river Prino, has stone - paved mule tracks, five bridges and water mills, evidence of an olive oil tradition dating back to the 1100's. The local olive groves are among the most famous in the region.
There are markets on Wednesdays and some Sundays selling local and organic produce, antiquities and bric a brac. You will also find an art gallery, shops, bakery, ATM's, a chemist, post office, a number of cafes, pizzerias and restaurants.
The parish church of San Tommaso is a baroque jewel. There is horse riding, mountain biking and whale watching.
