About Vanessa Elliott
We purchased the farmhouse adjacent to Ambers Barn in 2013, having moved to Norfolk in 2011. I'm at home most of the time and very happy to help with any queries.

Why Vanessa Elliott chose Norwich
Knowing little about Norfolk before moving here, we knew that the house we were looking to buy had to be in the right location. We love it here as we really feel we are in deep countryside, with lovely walks for the dogs, yet Norwich, with all it has to offer, is only 15 minutes away. We realised as soon as we moved to Norfolk that it's beaches are amongst the most beautiful in the country and we were keen to be able to access them easily.

Lovely, comfortable barn to stay at
As a family of 4 with 2 young children (7&3)this cottage was brilliant. It is in the country enough to be undisturbed and quiet, but suitably located to the A47 to easily get around Norfolk for beaches and other good family attractions and good amenities. The cottage is a very comfortable and relaxing to have with children that I didn't feel I needed to be on the children the whole time. They had lots of space and the furniture and equipment wasn't pristine (but this isn't to say that it wasn't clean or lovely) therefore it just meant that the children could relax too. We were greeted to lovely fresh bread, milk, butter, jam and biscuits, a lovely surprise, there was good communication for us once we booked the barn for us to know when we could access cottage and if we had any questions. I was a little worried after I read review in the singles bed bedroom that there was a lot of light from windows and no blinds but was pleasantly surprised to see that their was now a blind and curtain to rectify the early morning light for the children as a 4am wake call would not be appreciated.
I think the only slight negative for us was the flies, now we are country people and our family have horses so we knew for certain with the heat and being on a stables we would get flies but there were LOTS of flies. With the heat we wanted air, so wanted windows and doors opened but as a consequence got flies. We ended up buying fly sticky things and fly spray and keeping everything shut which helped but was not nice. For me I would invest in fly screens or at least a fly zapper.
SO overall this is a lovely place to stay and would recommend it.
Thank you for a lovely holiday
Enjoyable stay at Amber Barn
A warm greeting by Vanessa and a very peaceful and relaxing stay. Ideal location in central Norfolk for accessing the coast and places of interest. Not difficult for Suffolk either. Grocery store is just a few minutes drive, and there are two pubs in walking distance that have great food. We will definitely try to stay here again when we return to visit Norfolk again. Many thanks Vanessa.
The cottage was very comfortable and in a great location. Would definitely stay there again if we wanted to be in the area.
A superb place, beautifully clean with everything you need. (Even tea and milk for when you arrive which we were very grateful for). Can’t speak highly enough about this lovely barn.
