About louise meeres
hi there,i'm louise and me and my husband bob have lived in rogart for 21yrs now after moving up from wiltshire. we have 3 children,2 of which have flown the nest but no.3- charlie is still at home. we love where we live and hope you will too. we're both outdoor people ,are keen gardeners and grow lots of our own produce and rear our own meat. having a croft is more of a way of life than a job. we like to think we're pretty helpful kind of folk so during your stay we are more than happy to give you any local tourist info where we can ,lend you maps etc and hopefully make your stay as relaxing and as fun as possible.we've had family in the cottage on and off for the last couple of years but we are back!!! =)
louise meeres purchased this Cottage in 1991
Why louise meeres chose Rogart
my other half had always had an affinity with scotland after holidaying up here every year when he was a child, and being from farming background it seemed a natural progression to buy a croft up in the highlands. we both fell in love with the area, the diverse landscapes, the huge sense of freedom and space which comes from being able to see for miles and such a friendly village atmosphere
What makes this Cottage unique
we both love the outdoors and everything it has to offer,so when not working on the croft its great to be able to take the bikes out and hardly see a car,go hillwalking or go for a stomp on the nearby beaches. i've recently taken up climbing and theres lots of rocks to climb!,my husband thinks i'm mad and prefers to go for a round of golf instead..we're both pretty sporty but when we just feel like chilling out the peace and quiet on the croft is wonderful.who would want to live anywhere else when on my morning school run i can watch the red deer grazing on the roadside!

Great Holiday Accommodation
The Old Byre is set in a lovely setting with great views. Nice homely feel to the cottage with everything you need to have a relaxing holiday. Homemade biscuits and chocolate brownies were delicious 😋and a bottle of wine much appreciated.
Our second holiday at The Old Byre
Hope to return very soon 😊
Gorgeous cottage with a wonderful garden.
We have just got back from a three night stay and it was just lovely. The cottage is set back and accessed along a tree lined drive way (I secretly love tree lined drives.) Inside it was homely and clean, and has absolutely everything you need! We were even surprised to find some yummy brownies and a bottle of wine. My son, along with our dogs had a brilliant time running around the large garden.
Contact with the owner was brilliant from start to end. I can't fault this great little cottage or it's owner. Fabulous place!
I was worried about how much there would be to do locally, but Golspie has a lovely little waterfall and the beach is gorgeous. Then further afield we went to Lossie mouth beach and then had a private airplane tour from Inverness. But to be honest, I think you could easily spend the time just sat in the lovely garden with a cup of tea enjoying the views and the neighbouring sheep.
A perfect quiet cost escape from life.
Couldn't have asked for anything more. Extremely cosy little cottage with a gorgeous garden and lands surrounding. Excellent location to explore Northern Scotland by day, with the cosyiest log fire and little cottage to relax by night.... The chocolate brownies on arrival were a bonus 😍
Wonderful Highland Experience
Our stay at The Old Byre was amazing and perfect for our Highland stay! Ideally situated so we could unplug from the world when we wanted yet still close enough to do an easy day trip to Aviemore/Inverness. The cottage has everything you need and if you have little ones the garden is wonderful and exploring the fields is a tonne of fun, our 2yo was in heaven. That and he adored Poppy - always there to say hi, join us for a wander or to get belly rubs. Thank you for a wonderful stay Louise, we are head over heels for the area and hope to be back in a few years for round 2!
We had a fabulous 7 days in the cottage at Rogart with the sheep for company. The cottage is perfect for exploring the Highlands your only an hour or so from everything. The cottage was lovely and in a great part of the world to recharge your batteries or just veg out and take in the 360%views and close enough to the village for supplies or dinner at the local pub where we were made very welcome. If we ever come back to that part of the world again I hope it is still there , Many thanks louise Brian, Rosie and Helen Jakes
Beautiful, peaceful, charming
We took a short break for a few days and loved this place. The whole property, from the moment you enter the rocky track that leads up to the house, lined either side with trees that arch over like a scene from the entrance to a Mediterranean vineyard, exudes love and attention that has gone into the cultivation. A cosy interior to the property itself, with a log fire, and tasty homemade cakes on arrival, along with a large garden filled with flowers and a bench at the quiet end to sit and look out at the surrounding fields, it really is a well-cared for setting. It was a good location to cut across country to Ullapool and more locally to explore Golspie and Brora. There is a small Spa shop in Rogart itself, which was handy too. The hosts were lovely to talk with and get a little insight into the life of a crofter. Thanks for a lovely stay.
Good to meet you all and look forward to your next visit😊
