About Kate Baker
I live in Cardiff with my husband, son and our welsh terrier. We love to spend as much time in Pembrokeshire as school and work allow.
Kate Baker purchased this House in 2009
Why Kate Baker chose Penally
We came to visit friends and walked from Tenby to Penally across South Beach. Stopped for a pint in the Cross Inn and stumbled upon the house with it's for sale sign, we stood on the terrace peered through the windows and were immediately smitten with both the house and particularly the views and tranquil location. The house sits in the heart of the village on the green in front of the 13th century church with far reaching sea views. What's not to love? The village is ideally situated for walking, cycling, sea activities and in a great location to explore the beauty of Pembrokeshire.
What makes this House unique
You arrive at the house and all your worries slip away, it's a house from a bygone age and set in the heart of a beautiful village where you can do lots or nothing at all. We have loved renovating the house as a family and have hopefully done a sympathetic job and kept it in keeping with the character of the village. When we bought the house it had been in the same family for over 100 years and had no heating and electricity only on the ground floor only. We hope we have brought the house into the 20th century whilst not losing it's history.
Well thought out
Family of10 aged 3 to nearly 70 fitted in very well. Views beyond words as it was so special
Thank-you for your lovely review. It was our pleasure to have you stay with us in lovely Penally. The Bakers x
Wonderful, characterful property that just screams 'home from home' Without doubt recommended
really enjoyed our stay, felt comfortable throughout and would not hesitate to return x
Beautifully decorated, spacious, exceptionally well stocked.
Stayed at the property with a family group and all were really impressed with the property. Upon entering, we were intrigued by each of the rooms. All beautifully presented and all offering something different with really interesting bits and pieces throughout. Kitchen was really well stocked, welcome pack was fantastic, games room was really handy with beach trolley a fantastic addition!
Property is only a 10 minute walk to the beach, and Penally is beautiful. Masses to do in the area and we all had an amazing holiday.
Would definitely recommend.
Excellent, comfortable home in the perfect spot for a classic family holiday
There are a lot of reviews already about how nice the house is and how great a host Kate is - and they are all true - but the village itself is also fantastic. Great pub two doors away, handy local shop which is the centre of village life and a great unofficial tourist bureau, fascinating old church across the little green and a fancy upscale restaurant and cocktail bar (Penally Abbey) about 200 yards away (do go there for a treat!). And the walk to the beach is just the right length for an adventure with a young child, especially one who likes to ask the names of the many dogs he meets along the way. There are cliff walks, Tenby and its great beaches is an easy drive, you can go mackerel fishing and visit the beautiful Caldey island. Oh and the weekly dragon day at Pembroke Castle is terrific for the kids. Enjoy! We did...
Very comfortable house in beautiful position
3 generations of our family stayed here for a week to celebrate my husband’s 70th birthday. It was lovely to arrive and find the owner had put up birthday decorations and left sparkling wine. The house is very comfortable and welcoming and very well equipped. The position is great; a few steps from the great pub; with good food and friendly. Also an easy walk to the beach and well stocked shop. Beautiful views. All in all a great place to stay.
Everything you needed in a lovely spacious home from home. Was worried about no garden but nice front terrace and beach close enough not to miss one at all.
Fabulous holiday. Would highly recommend
Penally to South beach Viewpoint is an easy access walk of 0.7miles along a mostly level tarmac path to wooden viewpoint rewarded by great sea views. The walk passes a rifle range, then golf course and finally the dunes. It is worth taking binoculars as the cliffs and foreshore to the west are rich in bird life. There are views to Caldey and St Margaret's and east to Tenby which is approx 1.5 miles walk along the dog friendly south beach.
Penally is an easy 2 hour drive down the M4 from the Severn bridge Crossing near Bristol, with motorway and duel carriageway for all but the last few miles.
It is approximately 3.5 hours from Heathrow, 4 hours from west London, 3.5 hours from Birmingham and 1.5 hours from Cardiff.
Penally has a train station and trains run from London Paddington via Reading, Bristol, Cardiff and Swansea.
