Dream cottage, lovely area
The cottage was everything we hoped for - cosy, characterful, genuinely old but with all mod cons and in a peaceful setting. The surrounding area is full of places to visit, but we also really enjoyed just walking to Little Walsingham along the green lane, then exploring the ancient priory and its grounds, and having a great meal at the pub in the square. Highly recommended.
Hi M & L..... thanks so much for your lovely review - it was a pleasure to have you to stay, so pleased you had a good week and I hope we will see you again!! Gx
We had a lovely two weeks at Rose Cottage. It was the perfect size for the three of us plus our dog. The owner took great care of us, which helped as going away with a puppy is still new to us.
Was lovely to have you all to stay!! Hope to see you again. Gilly
Lovely picturesque cottage in the perfect location very private with lovely gardens
We are regular visitors to North Nofolk and like to try new places Great Snoring had great dog walks , you can walk into Walshingham to the fantastic Deli and grab a bite to eat and drink in the two great pubs , both dog friendly . There was social club in the village that made us very welcome . Our favourite beach is Brancaster , which was close by . The only down side to the holiday was that the cottage was full of flies , we tried everything to get rid of them ,it made it impossible to eat inside , so weather permitting we ate in the garden or went out , the White Horse at Brancaster is a must fab food and Staff. we did make Gilly aware of the problem . Won't stop us going back
Hi Catherine...... would just like to say the fly problem was not something to do with the cottage, think the weather encouraged them to the whole area, just very unfortunate really which of course we were very sorry about. Luckily it was a short lived issue but glad you still had a good holiday! Gilly.
Lovely comfy period cottage
Rose cottage was a lovely comfortable propert in a quiet village. Close enough to lots of nice places in Norfolk . The owner made us very welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay .
HI Helen.....thanks so much for your kind words, we loved having you all to stay and hope we will have the opportunity of welcoming you all back another time! Gx
Cosy, comfortable cottage in a perfect location.
Picturesque cottage, comfortable and welcoming (very comfy beds) in a truly beautiful village. Ideal location to explore North Norfolk.
Hello ! Just wanted to thank you for your review, it's much appreciated! Your charming painting of Cherry Tree Cottage is now framed and hanging on the wall for all to see - we love it, thank you for doing it and thank you for leaving it for us!! Hope we might see you again...... Gilly.
Lovely, cosy, comfortable cottage. Full of old world charm and character. Highly recommend a stay.
Great place to stay. Quiet and relaxed cottage. Shared enclosed garden safe and excellent for kids to run around in. Lots of things to do in area for whole family. Beaches absolutely fantastic. Local shops and restaurants as well as supermarket nearby. Owner very friendly, attentive and accommodating (leaving time flexible to suit us was very much appreciated). Kids loved cottage so much they did not want to leave (said goodby to all the rooms and kissed cottage on way out the door - "it's our cottage now". We hope to return on another holiday to visit all the exciting places we missed this time around. Recommend two week stay rather than just one.
Hi Lorraine - thank you so much for your lovely words, it was a pleasure having you all to stay, loved the 'girls' and look forward to seeing you all again........ Gx
We have some fantastic beaches on the north Norfolk coast - The most amazing beach is just 6 miles away at Holkham (apparently it's the Queen's favourite beach) where you can have a family day out or walk your dog.
Wells beach is also quite beautiful - colourful beach huts line the pine woods and when the tide is out there is a huge expanse of sand and shallow pools when the tide is in.
Brancaster beach is also quite stunning!
Most of our beaches allow dogs even in the summer months.
Nearest airport is Norwich - 25 miles away.
Train stations at Norwich and Kings Lynn - 25 miles away and at Sheringham - about 14 miles away.
A car really is recommended - or a bike but be warned, this part of Norfolk is not quite as flat as you might think!!
Walsingham is the next village on from Great Snoring, just 2 miles away, they have plenty of shops and eateries! There are a couple of pubs, a great fish and chip shop & restaurant, a fantastic Farm Shop and a very tasty chocolate Deli!!
Fakenham is our nearest town, 4 miles away, they have a weekly market, pubs, restaurants, take-a-ways, cinema and even a racecourse!
Holt is just 10 miles away with lots of interesting shops and places to eat.
Burnham Market, Cley & Blakeney within 12 miles.
Fakenham has two large supermarkets, Tesco and Morrisons. There are also many banks, chemists, a couple of clothes shops and some gift shops. Plenty of cafe's and bars, weekly market selling a range of goods from antiques to junk, fruit & veg to clothes and shoes. There is also a weekly auction too - worth a visit just to watch!!
Holt is the second nearest town to Great Snoring and is definitely worth a trip - lots of lovely independent shops, many galleries and antique shops, a department store that boasts it's Food Hall is as good as Harrods! Also a number of great pubs, cafe's and restaurants.
The coastal towns and villages along the coast road such as Stiffkey, Blakeney, Cley, Morston, Wiverton, Thornham, Brancaster and The Burnhams offer seal trips, fresh mussels, Cromer Crab and really great pubs!
