The cottages are a 10 minute walk from the beach and were once part of the nearby farm. The land surrounding is communal, a perfect natural play area for children, with several wonderful walks straight from your front door. The interiors downstairs are open plan, with a log fire and underfloor heating, fully equipped kitchen and dining area. Upstairs has 3 bedrooms in No 5. The bathroom is downstairs and has a double shower, roll-top bath and underfloor heating. No 6 looks out to sea and valley, with a cosy interior, 2 bedrooms, ideal for couples or family of 4. Both cottages have Wifi, and a TV. No smoking in either property.

About carol misch
We fell in love with Porth Farm Cottages about 18 years ago, and I remember thinking then what a magical spot, tucked away in the hillside overlooking valley and sea. It's a place to rest up, explore on foot, bask in sunshine with doors wide open, curl up by the fire in wilder weather. My family love getting into the sea and (clad in wetsuits..!) it's warm enough throughout the year. The cottages are comfortable all year round, with underfloor heating downstairs, an open fire, books, games, TV and WiFi, whilst still keeping their simplicity and uniqueness.
carol misch purchased this Cottage in 2009
Why carol misch chose Mawgan Porth
To be near sea- local beaches are stunning and many to choose from for the best surf. We can be on the coastal path in 10 minutes and inland walks are beautiful. Always a warm welcome from locals. Mawgan Porth is a 5 minute drive from Newquay airport, hence even a weekend escape is possible..
What makes this Cottage unique
The place has a very relaxed atmosphere, with the cottages just a few minutes walk down the hill to the beach. There is a surf school, surf shop for hire, good provisions store by the beach, local farms that sell their own produce, so no need to drive miles. Local restaurants and pubs also serve excellent food and local beers. In fact it is possible to do without a car altogether. You can walk from the cottage along the coastal path in either direction, or follow the track up the valley through ancient woodlands and fields to the village of St Mawgan.

Restored my faith in holidaying in Britain!
Beautifully restored cottage in fantastic location. Lovely luxurious double shower & roll top bath, in slate tiled bathroom. Gorgeous wide elm floorboards, & handcrafted spiral staircase. Dog friendly, with dogs allowed on the amazing sandy beach, meant we were all happy. Highly recommended.
Fantastic rustic cottage
Loved No 5 . We thought the pictures didn't do it justice.
Great kitchen with super oven and hob and all the kitchen appliances one needs.
Stylish bathroom with rolled bath .
Snug , simple bedrooms with beams .
No TV ! Walking distance to beach. 2 great shops that sell fresh bread, croissants , pizzas delivered and more . Fab fish n. Chips . We didn't want to leave. Just a pity the weather wasn't great . Thank you Carol for little touches like a pint of milk on arrival - very much appreciated .
A perfect windy winter week!
We had a fabulous week in number 6 and it was great to spend time in Cornwall 'out of season'.
We loved the feel of the cottage. The open fire made for a really cosy atmosphere, helped by the way it has been modernised but in a very traditional, handmade way. The mod cons were all there but the place had a lovely simplicity to it.
The garden was perfect for our dog Flossie to run around in, and when we had friends to stay their girls loved the aerial slide! From the door of the cottage there are footpaths for great walks, especially up the valley towards St Mawgan. Not to mention the coastal path! This was out of bounds in the 40mph winds blowing for most of the week, although we did make it over to Watergate Bay once, rewarded by a big lunch and pint at the Beach Hut.
Flossie loved the perfect sands at Mawgan Porth too, so much space for her to run around. The Merrymoor Inn by the beach did a great Sunday roast and nice ales! I loved the local road bike opportunities and also noted great mountain biking at Llanhydrock and nearby Cardinham Woods.
It was great to meet owner Carol during our stay and be treated to a tour of number 5 which looked similarly fab.
We would highly recommend these cottages to couples, those with dogs, and hope to be back with our own children in years to come.
Stuart and Charlie Reid
Dear Stuart & Charlie, just wanted to thank you for writing such a lovely review of your stay, and recommending things to do that we hadn't thought of! Look forward to welcoming you again one day,
Excellent accommodation, location, facilities.
Just 5 mins drive from Newquay airport, you drive into Mawgan Porth bay and then just around the next corner are the nest of cottages, overlooking the sea. Lovely wee bay with a few places to eat and one fine hotel nearby for a splash out dinner too. There were 5 of us but found it really roomy and the design inside is very modern yet still has the country feel. We will definitely be back!
A fabulous cottage with all the finishing touches. The huge bathroom, bath and double shower made the post-beach hose down a pleasure for the children. A great combination of old fashioned style with modern conveniences in a child friendly setting. We will definitely be staying again.
Mawgan Porth Cottage
Everything was there, no need to bring anything except towels. Sunny position with views over the bay. Milk in the fridge for a cuppa on arrival was a great thoughtful touch. The furniture could do with a bit of updating but gave a cottage feel to the place. There is a spiral staircase which for someone not sure in their feet would be tricky to climb, but it was stable with good rail support. The cottage is at the top of a steep climb out of the bay. Did it a couple of times but appreciated the car at other times. Really relaxed here, good times
