I am now partly retired after many years as a Technical Director for a multinational company. Following my retirement from the full time job we purchased this lovely apartment in 2005 and a ground floor property in 2008 on the same site. My present employment situation means I can work just as easily in Sao Rafael as the UK with the Internet connection.

Why Ray Good chose Albufeira
We had considered buying abroad for some years in Spain but having seen this apartment, there was no contest. We love this quiet area as it offers such easy access to beautiful beaches and the Monchique mountains inland. The Portuguese people are wonderful and many friends have been made in the area. The nearest airport at Faro is easily accessible from the UK year round.
What makes this Apartment unique
The apartment is so well equipped that it is a home from home and allows myself and my wife to experiment with our love of cooking. I am an avid golfer and in Winter time can play in 20C weather even between November and March when the UK is freezing. I am also a keen photographer and am always capturing the changing colours of the coastline on camera as can be seen by some pictures in the apartment. The benefits of the area include its quiet location yet its proximity to Albufeira Old Town.

Fantastic apartment in a quiet location
What a wonderful apartment! Well laid out, spacious and very comfortable. The bedrooms were large as was the lounge / dining area. There's a protected balcony off the lounge where we enjoyed breakfast every morning, a smaller balcony area off the kitchen to hang washing up or have a BBQ and slightly larger area at the front door to enjoy a sun-downer if you haven't had enough sun during the day!
Special thanks to Richard for being so patient and friendly during our check in, especially with our young children, even after we were delayed 1.5 hours.
I cant recommend this property enough, it really was great. We loved our time so much, we're already planning on coming back next year!
The area of Sao Rafael is small and secluded and as such there's only one little (expensive) shop to get your supplies. Do yourself a favour and go into Albufeira to do a big shop at the start of your stay. It's cheaper and the wine is better :)
The beaches can get busy but the apartment was very quiet and peaceful. There are some lovely restaurants within easy walking distance and I can highly recommend both the Praia Grande and Murgem Sul. The restaurants at the beaches can be very pricey but the seafood was good quality and very fresh. Tip: Book a table for lunch when you arrive at the beach in the morning as they both fill up very quickly at lunch time.

We love this apartment ourselves and after 13 years of ownership we continue to try to maintain a high standard for our guests. We return ourselves on a regular basis to Sao Rafael to provide much needed relaxation.

3B is a lovely apartment ........
3B is a spacious clean apartment in a quiet location, with a good on site pool and within walking distance to a small beach and a few good quality restaurants. Communication with Ray was quick and efficient. I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday in a 1st class apartment. Thank you Ray.

Fantastic well equipped apartment.
First time booking with Owners Direct and Ray made the whole process very easy. Communication was fantastic and Ray gave us some information of the area and local restaurants.
Didn't hire a car and found taxis were quick and easy to come by. Worked out that we would have had to spend 35/40 euros a day to match the cost of hiring.
The apartment is larger than the pictures show and had a personal touch about it which was was lovely. The kitchen was very well equipped and the use of the dishwasher and washing machine was great. Barbecue was fab and was lovely to have two balconies to enjoy the sun (or shade)
Wifi was good and kept the teenagers (and Hubby on Twitter!) happy.
The complex is quiet and a mix of residential and holiday. There is some noise from the hotel behind, but we didn't find this intrusive. The pool was great and was nice that it was deep. It became busy over weekends but you found that lunchtimes became quieter. Sunlougers and shade around the pool was also great.
Two lovely beaches about a 5 min walk from the apartment, we preferred Arrifes beach out of the two. Restaurants on the beaches were expensive for food, but good for ice cream and a drink. We used the ice box and freezer packs from the apartment (Ray and Carolyn think of everything) for sandwiches and drinks.
The marina is about a 15 min walk from the apartment (no pathway for some of it) and was manageable. Old Town was another 10mins on from the Marina. We tended to walk to old Town and then get a taxi, at a cost of 8 euros back to the apartment.
There is a Lidl and Aldi just outside of old town which has everything you need.
We wil most definitely be returning and Ray and Carolyn's apartment would be our first choice. A most enjoyable and relaxing holiday.

Fantastic apartment and holiday!
Large, clean apartment with absolutely everything you could need. A lovely complex, quiet and peaceful. Easy walk to a local shop and the beach. Several good restaurants locally, our favourite being the fish restaurant on Arrifes Beach. Comprehensive guest information book. I found the owner to be the perfect host - accommodating, contientious, communication was fantastic along with Terry based locally, who was very helpful also. Taxi transferred arranged for us, welcome pack was brilliant. Could not have asked for better accommodation for my first holiday abroad, alone with my two children. We will 100% be back! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

The stunning beach of Sao Rafael is an 8 minute walk from the apartment.
Many other beaches are accessed by foot or car and have restaurants and sun loungers available.
Faro airport is situated approximately 40K to the east ( 30 minute drive)
A car is recommended but not essential.
Albufeira Old Town and Marina is a 30-40 minute walk or 5-10 minutes by car or economical taxis.
Many restaurants shops and bars offering live entertainment are situated in Albufeira.
A number of restaurants are within walking distance of the apartment.
Having a car will increase your enjoyment of restaurants and resorts further afield.
Although there is a nearby convenience store ( 5 minute walk) it is recommended that a car/taxi is used to access the many supermarkets within a 5 minute drive. The nearest banks are in Albufeira or Val de Parra ( 3K) distance.
