The local market in Piegut-Pluviers is the largest in the Dordogne and held on Wednesday mornings. Friday market at Brantome and Saturday market at Nontron are also well worth a visit. There is a adventure park in Angouleme, 30 mins away, and a water adventure park in Nontron (20 mins away) including a thrilling Zip Wire ride over the lake.

About Audrey Kolbusz
I am a retired midwife and my husband George, a retired teacher. We have lived in Beaumont in the Dordogne since April 2012. We fell in love with our property with 2 acres of parkland in 2008 and initially came here during our holidays. We enjoy meeting people both French and English, exploring local and not so local places of interest and tasting the local cuisine.

Why Audrey Kolbusz chose Teyjat
We had been looking to buy a French property for a number of years and when we first saw a picture, of the view from our swimming pool, we were both smitten! It is a very tranquil area but close to all amenities and places of interest. Nontron is 15 mins by car and Brantome, commonly referred to as 'the Venice of the Pergord Vert', is only half an hour with Perigueux barely an hours drive. In opposite directions we are 40 mins from Angouleme and just over an hour from Limoges airport and the city itself. The enchanting Lakes of the Haute Charente are only 40 mins away.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
We enjoy gardening and maintaining 2 acres of parkland on our property. And as already mentioned there are many exciting places to visit including local chateaux, and activities to take part in. There is even a man made lake and beach within a few kilometres at St Estephe! A private fishing lake is available with all equipment/bait provided plus fishing lessons if required.

A gite with rustic charm, nice surroundings with a good swimming pool.
We had a week in this lovely area of France with our son and daughter in law and two young children. The accommodation certainly had rustic charm, but we were overall a little disappointed.There were two good bathrooms, three bedrooms, one with queen size bed, one with two large singles and the third with a ridiculously small bed meant to act as a double. The kitchen was minimally equipped with crockery and cutlery for a family of six. Audrey and George were always very helpful and gave us lots of tips about places of interest in the area.
The contents of our kitchen include a cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, Fridge freezer, micro wave, toaster, cafetiere, ironing board, iron and clothes airer including all necessary pots and pans of various sizes, cutlery and crockery for six people, three different sets of glasses including plastic glasses for pool use. We also have equipment to use for the outdoor BBQ.
The bed referred to is an original French double bed of which have had no previous complaints from our many guests. However we have now changed the bed to a standard double bed size.
