About Alexandra Adamson

My name is Alexandra and I live in Edinburgh. My partner is an engineer and I work part time for a property management company. My passion is dancing and my husband's passion is cycling. We have spent many holidays snowboarding or cycling but in the last few years we have slowed down on the sporting pursuits and like to explore new places on foot!

Alexandra Adamson purchased this apartment in 2013

Why Alexandra Adamson chose Edinburgh

If you love historic property and want to experience Georgian character and luxury, you will not be disappointed.

The area is a UNESCO world heritage site and considered to be a masterpiece of city planning.

We have brought an 1840's property to life and the location belies the calm and peaceful feeling you get when you stay here.

The area Broughton has retained it's sense of community within the city, as we also benefit from the local shops and specialty outlets surrounding the property.

What makes this apartment unique

You would be never think our apartment was in the city so we love the fact that it is so quiet but literally 90 seconds (I've timed it) from Broughton Street where we can shop for basics or specialty items. There are so many restaurants, cafes and bars you are spoilt for choice. I love that we can walk to the main shops in and around Princes and George Street and our new tram system is up and running - 180 m and a 5 min walk from the apartment!

Couldn't be better!

  • 5 of 5

This flat is comfortable, well decorated and in a perfect location to walk to almost anything you'll want to visit. If you're flying in, it's super easy to take the tram straight from the airport and walk here. The street and flat ooze "New Town" charm (which isn't at all new anymore, but was new in the late 1800s). The owner, Alexandra, was there to greet us, show us the ropes of the flat and give us some recommendations. She was warm and lovely.

Honestly it was just perfect all the way around. We're definitely planning to come back to Edinburgh and specifically to this flat.

Luxury in Edinburgh

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here with my two older teenage daughters while visiting Edinburgh. It was our first time to Europe and we could not have picked a better vacation rental. The home and neighborhood are very charming. It was absolutely perfect and gorgeous. The entire house was immaculately clean. The bed in the bedroom was a firm memory foam, with the most comfortable pillows and blanket. I slept like a baby! My daughters said the pull out sofa in the living room was also comfortable. This home has everything you could possibly need, including a coffee maker. There is a vanity for doing makeup in the bedroom and the bathroom has plenty of counter space. It made it easy for all three of us girls to do our makeup in the morning. The shower had great water pressure and the shampoo the home provides was very nice. The blow dryer is in the vanity in the bedroom. My teenage daughters also said the WiFi worked great. If you are an American like us make sure you purchase a plug in converter to charge your cell phones while staying at the home. The home is also within a 3-5 minute walk to a few restaurants, a tea shop, a small grocery store with organic natural foods, and other shops. It is only a 25 min walk to Edinburgh Castle. We didn't need to use public transportation or our rental/hire car the entire trip. Parking was a little difficult, but we managed to get a spot nearby. Just make sure you pay your parking meter by 8am every morning unless you download a special app to your cell phone that allows you to extend your time. The street the home is on is very quiet and peaceful. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and hope to be back soon. It was a perfect stay for my teenage daughters and I. Thank you!

Beautiful flat in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Our hostess was lovely and the apartment met all expectations. It is as shown in the photos and had many thoughtful touches to make our stay very comfortable. It is located in a quiet area near many shops and restaurants that are an easy walk. If you enjoy a little further walk, Old Town is within walking distance as well. We would absolutely stay here again.
