About Emma Wadey
My husband and I, along with our two small children escaped our hectic city lives to find a little piece of rural paradise back in 2011. And it has not disappointed. This is the 4th house we have renovated personally (and the first time we have done it both in a foreign country and with toddlers; a challenge in itself!) but we have loved the adventure of uncovering the history and story of the building. We have also strived to restore it sympathically whilst giving it a contemporary feel (with the advantage that my husband is a carpenter and joiner, we have tried to make most design elements as bespoke and tailored as possible).
Emma Wadey purchased this Farmhouse in 2011
Why Emma Wadey chose Bournel
When we found the farmhouse we really fell in love with the unspoilt charm of the place. We just wanted to draw out it's potential. It was only once we moved here that we realised how conveniently situated it is both from an amenity and accessibility perspective. Villereal is also unusually a fully functioning town which isn't solely dependent on tourists; so spending time here allows guests to have a real taste of South West France while being able to access the wide range of attractions that are within easy reach. We spend hours exploring the land, love choosing the fresh local produce at the market and being able to go for a dip in the pool whenever they fancy cooling off. We feel privileged to share this experience with our guests and know you'll fall in love with the place too.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
Despite it's quiet, rural location, the property is just a 20 minute walk from a great family restaurant and perfectly situated to easily access all that the area offers. However, there is such a range of facilities offered that it's easy to spend days just enjoying your time at the farmhouse, whether it's having a dip in the heated pool, using the gym, playing pool or driving the games console in the games room, exploring the 10 acres of grounds, fishing, utilising all the different games facilities offered or taking in an outdoor film or match on our 3m HD projector, not to mention enjoying the fine wine and gourmet food that the area offers.

Relaxing rural retreat
Beautiful house and great hosts.
Lovely farmhouse with excellent pool
Super holiday home, with fab pool and kitchen. Lots of space and toys for small people.
Stunning rural retreat
We have just returned from an amazing fortnight spent at Emma and Craig’s beautiful countryside retreat. We were a party of 7, consisting of my children aged between 3 and 18 months, my wife and in-laws. The property was perfect for our needs, with plenty of space in the house and outside areas for our children to run around safely. The trampoline and airplane climbing frame and swimming pool were an absolute winner as far as our children were concerned!
Emma and Craig were great hosts who made sure that we had everything we could possibly need, with Emma dropping in age relevant toys for our boys to play with. They are knowledgeable about the local area and provided some great recommendations for days out with the children.
The surrounding countryside is amazing, and I enjoyed going for various runs down the country lanes with rarely a car in sight.
A car is essential for a stay at Lascorades, however you are only a 10 minute drive away from the Intermarche in Villereal which is nice little town. We highly recommend the beautiful village of Limeuil for a day on the Dordogne River, and the market at Issigeac which we spent many hours wandering around.
If you are after a relaxing family break and love being surrounded by stunning countryside then I strongly recommend Lascorades. We will be back!
Weekend stay in Bournel
Fantastic setting for a beautifully restored and well equipped old farmhouse. Craig and Emma were very hospitable and everyone enjoyed their stay. We cannot reccomend highly enough
Beautiful property in a wonderful area
Wonderful property. It has everything you need for a lovely stay. The owners were extremely helpful, sourcing and booking restaurants for us. Our daughter has coeliacs which always makes travelling difficult but Emma sourced restaurants able to cater for her and the welcome pack included food suitable for her. The gardens and swimming pool area are fantastic both for children and adults. The local area stunning and the surrounding villages and towns a must to visit. If you want a beautiful property, in a wonderful area with fantastic and helpful owners then I recommend this one.
Thanks so much for your lovely review Carys. It really was a pleasure to have you all as guests. We always like to ensure our guests have the most relaxing time possible, so it really was no hassle at all to support Ems and her needs. We now also have this information to help future guests!
We are so pleased that you all enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back to L'Ancienne Ferme.
