About Christine Mercier
Your hosts, Yves and Christine, have spent many years as expats in Switzerland and the UK and are bilingual French-English. Their primary wish is to make your stay thoroughly enjoyable, your mood and your pace will be their only guides in advising you, accompanying you or leaving you alone when it is your choice. They are living in the mill main house. On your arrival they will welcome you with an 'aperitif bourguignon'. They will then keep a discreet distance to preserve your tranquility. If you are staying for the week, if it suits you, they will invite you to a convivial welcome dinner to have the time to share an exchange more. As soon as you book they will send you a PDF document telling you the activities at Rix mill and around.

Why Christine Mercier chose Rix
After 21 years expatriation (4 years in Switzerland and 17 years in England), we returned to France and fell in love with Rix Mill. Untouched and uninhabited for some 25 years prior to our purchase, we have enjoyed the combined challenge of restoring what is an historical Mill, pre-dating the French revolution, and introducing a high specification interior with 21st century comfort and the latest in modern communications technology. This type of site is rare as it combines features that you don't usually find together. The mill is in Rix village, therefore not isolated, while nature and wildlife are at its doorstep. It benefits from sun all day long and offers view on the valley and its wide spaces. Its location makes a lot of interesting towns, including Paris, quickly reachable by car
What makes this Cottage unique

We loved our stay here. Your stay is in a mill from 1738 that has been renovated in a manner that balances the uniqueness of the old charm and a modern aesthetic. We travelled with our seven year old and he loved it. The property is massive, there are sheep nearby, a spaces for bocce and long walks, a boat to go down the river and a whole number of other options Christine and Yves provide. The hosts Christine and Yves are incredibly friendly and really do a fantastic job making you feel welcomed. Yves suggested that we visit Vezelay which was not on our radar and we could not have been more appreciative to not have missed it. We loved the tranquility of the property for meals surrounded by only the sound of the natural environment and the central location for trips during the day. Definitely one of our favourite places. Don't miss it.
Absolutely stunning place to stay and relax
Beautiful tranquil place, stunning location by the water, all comforts provided with Christine taking care of extra little touches that make guests feel even more welcome. Christine and Yves are delightful hosts, always ready to help. They welcomed us with delicious dinner and drinks. The Mill is so quiet it's a perfect place to relax and unwind. And there is plenty to see and enjoy including the best of worlds' vineyards! After a busy day visiting local attractions it's great to return and relax with a cold drink on the terrace of the cottage.
Beautiful surroundings, comfortable and tastefully decorated interior and lovely welcoming hosts make this place a truly special one!
Nothing is more rewarding for hosts than seeing guests enjoying their stay and showing interest and respect for the site and the area. Paul's and Hanna's enthusiasm and kindness made their stay a real pleasure for us and we really hope to host them again.
Wonderful place to relax and unwind!
What a wonderful find this is! Christine and Yves welcomed us with a fantastic dinner and we found peace and tranquillity in their lovely property. We stayed in the cottage and had our own private and peaceful space to relax and unwind, the location is absolutely stunning. Just sitting by the river or wandering along the banks watching the wildlife was amazing. It is also a great location to explore the beautiful Burgundy countryside especially getting some great ideas from our lovely hosts! Will certainly make an effort to return.
We wish any gite owner to get the opportunity to host guests as Julie and Chris. Their kindness, their refreshing joie de vivre, their curiosity and enthusisam about the mill and its surrounding, their generosity in sharing products from their own region and a delicious meal they cooked for us are the exact reasons why we enjoy running a gite and welcoming people from all around the world.
And what a nice feeling to find the place in such a good state after their visit!
We certainly would be very pleased to have another opportunity to host Julie and Chris.
We had a real unforgetable time in Rix Mill! The house and the garden are amazing!! Thank you for the warm welcome and the perfect dinner! We can recommand this to erveryone who travels to Burgundy!
It was a real pleasure to host Saskia, Thomas and little smiling Marla at Rix Mill. It was so nice to see them enjoying the site and its surrondings. Their hign interest in Burgundy's heritage was amazing.
They are the perfect guests to remind you why you chose to welcome travellers. Thank you!
Too much value for your money
Yves and Christine are great hosts and offer a fantastic French experience. There is so much nature around, there are quiet medieval towns in the neighbourhood and the mill is absolutely perfect to relax and unwind. You get absolutely too much value for your money.
It was a great experience to host Sebastian and Kesia and their sweet little baby boy. Their enthousiasm regarding the site (both accomodation and the whole site and its nature) is a real reward to the efforts we put in ensuring our guests will be able to slow down and unwind in a nice environment. It was a real pleasure to share with them about French culture, gastronomy and language and all of what our beautiful Burgundy has to offer to holiday makers.
Es erwartete uns eine Traumanlage wie wir sie noch nie gesehen haben und es auch nicht erwartet hatten.
We really enjoyed having Solvig, Norman and Paulina around. It was a great pleasure to see them making the most of what our property has to offer.
We would be delighted to get another opportunity to host them.
