Georgian Townhouse in Central Perth - Minutes From Restaurants And Bars
Nick and Sarah
About Nick and Sarah
Sarah and I moved to Scotland in 2010 after some 15 years in London. At first I continued to commute down south for a few days each week and Sarah worked in Dundee. We now have a young family, I work in Edinburgh and we are both loving the lifestyle up here. My family are originally from Scotland and we wanted somewhere more relaxing to live and with access to the countryside. It has been a great move for us and we are really well settled in now.
Nick and Sarah purchased this House in 2011
Why Nick and Sarah chose Perth
We found Atholl Place in the spring of 2011. The house had been empty for a little over two years, had been poorly maintained and had fallen into disrepair. But the building was magnificent with many original features still present and the location was amazing. How often do you find a 4,500 townhouse within minutes of all the shops and restaurants but with views of green fields and the river? It took almost a year to complete the renovation. We have brought it up to 21st century standards but with a very sympathetic view to how it looked in the past. Where we could, we have repaired the period features and we have used period styles and furniture throughout. We hope you like the result!
What makes this House unique
The house is so convenient for all of Perth. There are two reserved parking spaces right outside the front door but you won't need a car if you are exploring the city as everything is just a few minutes away. But take a walk through the North Inch park and along the banks of the River Tay and you will quickly forget you are in a city at all. If you don't plan on going out, practice your pool or table tennis in one of the two games rooms or just sit and relax - there are plenty of areas in the house to choose from. The dining table is "board room" style and comfortably seats 12 making it ideal for those special occasions and family get togethers. Perth itself is well located to explore the surrounding area. There is not much traffic up here and it is easy to get about.
We accept hen and stag parties.
Enclosed garden, playground nearby.

Great Property for group of friends
Great property, well equipped and excellent location. Pool table added bonus. Ideally would have liked more shower rooms.
Excellant, but a few minor snags.
Excellant accommodation overall. Good location for Perth and for a large group it generally had most of everything, however there were a few snags in that the top floor bedrooms would benefit from having a shower unit above the bath. The mattress on the King sized bed on the top floor sagged. The welcome pack was rather basic, a bottle of milk, packet of tea would have been welcomed.
Thank you very much for your review and we are pleased you enjoyed your stay. We are grateful also for your comments. As well as a basket of snacks and jam, we keep a supply of tea, coffee (regular and decaffeinated) and sugar in jars in the kitchen. We are sorry you didn't spot them. We used to leave milk but stopped doing so as the shops are so close that we found most guests had brought their own - apologies this was an inconvenience for you. That you also for letting us know about the bed which we have addressed. We have also been looking into remodelling the upstairs bathroom although the coombed ceiling does limit the shower options.
Fantastic property for a family gathering or friends weekend away.
We had a wonderful stay celebrating my husband’s 40th birthday with 10 other family members. The house has everything you could possibly need for a weekend away and much more. The size of the property is impressive, with lots of space for everyone. The pool table and ping pong table were massive hits with everyone, young and old alike.
I would definitely recommend this property.
This is our second time to visit Perth and stay here. Lovely house great time.
Nice big town house, clean and well equipped. A bit cool on the upper levels.
Stayed hear before with a group of friends. Great base for hill walking, cycling and shopping . We climbed Schiehallion on Saturday, lovely clear day with crisp snow. Only disappointment was that there was not enough hot water for chilled walkers to get a decent shower. Lounge on ground floor - door handle loose and one could easily be locked in. Upper floors a bit cool, perhaps radiators need to be bled. Kitchen well equipped, comfortable and clean beds. Overall a great house, good fun with table tennis and pool. Stayed before and no doubt we will return.
Many thanks for your review and it was great to have you to stay again. I'm very sorry about the hot water. I'm afraid I only realised this after you left but I think a previous guest had altered the timer and so the water was not being heated at obvious showering times. It was easy to correct but I apologise that we didn't spot that before your arrived. I've also refitted the door handle and bled all the radiators just to make sure. Sorry again that your stay wasn't perfect - it should be - and we hope to see you again.
Lovely property in town centre
Everything was perfect except shower in large family bathroom. It was either cold or far too hot . It needs a better mixer tap. We stayed in this house the previous year and had the same problem.
The nearest beach is at Dundee (20 - 25 minutes drive away) and the stunning coastline of Augus is about a 45 - 60 minute drive. Lunan Bay and the Montrose basin are particularly recommended.
The nearest international airport is Edinburgh (about 45 minutes' drive). Glasgow airport is only about an hour away. Dundee also has a small airport serving London.
The nearest railway station is Perth - less than a 15 minute walk or just a short taxi ride away.
Perth transport is good with regular bus services operating in the city and to the nearby towns.
There is a good choice of car hire agencies at the airports and in Perth itself.
Atholl Place is right in the centre of Perth but has an unimpeded view of the North Inch park. The Concert Hall is literally less than 2 minutes away and the high street less than 5 minutes. There are numerous restaurants, pubs and bars all within a short walk.
Perthshire is one of Scotland's most beautiful regions and caters for all tastes. Take a look around the historic Scone Palace, visit the towns of Dunkeld or Pitlochry, fish on the River Tay, play golf at Gleneagles (home of the 2014 Ryder Cup) or walk through the stunning countryside.
Dundee is an easy 20 minute drive away and is a city undergoing major investment in the waterfront area. Golfers may be interested in St Andrews, just 45 minutes' drive through some beautiful countryside .With Edinburgh only 45 minutes drive away, it is easily accessible for those who would like to explore the city during their stay.
There is plenty to do and you will find some more ideas on our own web site and we would be happy to make suggestions ahead of your arrival.
Perth itself is easily accessible from all of the major transport hubs in Scotland. The city has some fantastic restaurants, all just minutes' walk from the house, with a wide selection to suit all tastes. For casual dining or a drink out, there are some excellent pubs, both in the city centre and just outside of Perth.
The house itself is situated on the North Inch, an extensive park situated between the city and the River Tay. There is a lovely walk along the river bank and the park also has its own golf course and sports facilities. The house looks across the park and the upstairs bedrooms have clear views of the river.
Perth has all of the shops you would expect for a city and, with the high street just about 2 minutes' walk away, it is easy to pick up provisions during your stay.
