About Robert Benaim
We are Mr Robert and Mrs Simone Benaim. We live in London but are in love with Italy, and in particular with our Villa l'Eremo. We have restored it from a romantic ruin paying attention to building details and to the quality of materials as if it were our main home. We hope you will appreciate it. I am a structural engineer, and my wife is an artist. The architect responsible for the restoration of the property is Andre Benaim, my cousin, who lives and practises in Florence, while the Contractor who carried out the restoration is also trained as an architect, and specialises in the restoration of historic churches and ancient monuments. The four of us made a great team, and it shows in the loving and careful detail of the restoration.
Why Robert Benaim chose Monte San Savino
Monte San Savino is the very best of Tuscany. It is outside the over hyped Chianti Classico, but right in the heart of the natural beauty and artistic heritage of Tuscany. Arezzo is the 'home' of Piero della Francesca, while we are close to Siena and the extraordinary landscape of the Crete, as well as to Florence and the towns of Southern Tuscany such as Pienza, Montepulciano and Montalcino. On the slopes of our local extinct volcano, Monte Amiata, there are thermal springs, and beautiful monasteries. There is also a ski slope used every winter (the mountain is 1700m high!). Northwards, we are close to the beautiful towns of Anghiari and Sansepolcro, and to the mountains of the Casentino, again with monasteries such as La Verna. Within a 2 hour drive, there is Rome, or the seaside.
What makes this Villa unique
Villa l'Eremo has a unique blend of privacy and accessibility. As it is located in the heart of our 70 acres of land, there are no visible neighbours or nearby roads to disturb the calm. We are surrounded by thousands of acres of forest, with its deer, wild boars, porcupines hares and other wildlife. However, Monte San Savino, with its many restaurants, banks and services is less than 2 miles away. There is a wide choice of restaurants serving excellent local food, from pasta and pizzas to the local specialities of porchetta (roast, stuffed suckling pig) and T bone steaks (bistecca fiorentina). We can also provide a cook if you wish to eat local home cooked food.

An incredible time in San Savino
An incredible time in San Savino. A beautifully renovated property with an amazing pool. Great local area which isn't too touristy. Fjornetina was there to translate for us when needed and arranged for a wine tour with Stefano (really recommend) and a chef to cook at the villa. Highly recommend.
Perfect Tuscan experience
Close enough to Arezzo and Siena but still a very rural setting. The large numbers of trees made the hot days very pleasant. Lovely pool. Lots of areas to sit for drinks, coffee, reading etc.
Stunning property and experience
Owner and local contacts wonderful to work with and go above and beyond to assist with needs. Wonderful property and perfect in every way. Tons of very clean space. Home beautifully done in traditional Tuscan style with a modern and elegant touch.
Secluded Tuscany Villa
This is a great place to stay in Tuscany if you like to get a country feel. The home is very comfortable-we thoroughly enjoyed eating dinners by candlelight and snuggling up by the cozy fire. The outside patio was a great place to just sit and relax. We were there too early in the season to enjoy the pool. The home has a very authentic Tuscany feel with its use of wood beams and brick. It is in a great location to make day trips to many of the surrounding hill towns. Monte San Ssvino was a pleasant surprise and we enjoyed walking around the town and eating dinner there.
The owner’s son was in the area and very receptive to any of our needs.
I would highly recommend this villa to anyone who wants to get away and enjoy the peace and solitude of Tuscany.
Superb house in an idyllic rural location. Absolutely loved it.
We had a week here at the end of July, so a very hot week but the pool was a godsend, plenty big enough. There were 5 of us. The owners were extremely helpful during our stay although there was plenty of information given from where to eat out and where to visit to where to buy your local groceries. Would highly recommend a visit.
Fantastic villa in a secluded and peaceful location!
Our experience of Villa l'Eremo was one our whole party will remember for years to come. Not only from the splendid villa in its large and very peaceful location but from the attentive owners and staff.
From the moment we arrived and upon meeting the owners we knew that they only wanted us to enjoy all that they had clearly worked so hard on getting right and the attention to detail that they had put into creating such a haven!
For our party of six, we had ample space, the amenities were excellent, the pool was super and always clean set in wonderful grounds that can be explored.
We spent many a fine evening enjoying food and drinks on the terrace catching sight of the deer that graced us with their presence.
We also enjoyed a fabulous (traditional Tuscan) meal of pasta with boar sauce, rabbit and potatoes followed by tirimassu and panna cotta provided by Lucilla and her husband from the local restaurant - arranged again by the delightful owners. I must say this is highly recommended!
All in all I would definitely recommend a stay at Villa l'Eremo for its quality, space, amenities, location to main roads (1 hr to Florence and Sienna and 2hrs to Rome), highly attentive owners!
One of the nicest villas we have stayed in out of those we have in Italy and South of France!
