Bungalow in Murrisk, Westport, County Mayo, Ireland - Elevated Site, Sea Across The Road, 15 Minutes Walk To Pier And Coastal Walk To Murrisk Abbey
About Mary Clark
I designed and built Gortmore in 1999 and try to visit as much as possible as I have strong family ties in Murrisk and love the countryside but I live in Leeds for most of the year.
Mary Clark purchased this Bungalow in 1999
Why Mary Clark chose Westport
My family come from Murrisk and although I was brought up in Northern Ireland, I find County Mayo such a beautiful county. I chose the site because of the wonderful views over Clew Bay from the Living Room, bedroom and kitchen. The dining room has a great view of the pilgrimage mountain, Croagh Patrick. The bungalow was designed to be very light and airy. It is just off the main Westport- Lousisburgh Road so no-one has difficuly finding it. At the same time it is completely private on its own elevated site.
What makes this Bungalow unique
All my visitors are very impressed with the views and with the kitchen. Sometimes they arrive at night and waken up to a complete mirror imagine reflection of nearby Murrisknabol in Clew Bay. On the practical side the kitchen has every modern convenience and it is spacious so that on a big occasion several people can cook at once. The living room is really the quiet room, but does contain the modern TV with Free Sat. Wireless Internet is the most recent addition enabling me to keep in touch with family back in Leeds.

We found the property without difficulty. Ideally situated, low down on a hillside, with beautiful views of Clew Bay and Croagh Patrick. Everything we needed was provided. We would certainly consider a return trip.
County Mayo Holiday
This bungalow is exactly what we wanted and was exactly as advertised. It is in an ideal location on the main road from Westport to Louisburgh. Just under one mile to the Croagh Patrick visitor center and four miles to Westport. A breathtaking view of the Reek and of Clew Bay. The accommodations were perfect. Three spacious bedrooms and a very comfortable living room. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped. My family thought it was perfect. Tom, the caretaker, came by on our first day and made sure we were taken care of. Westport and County Mayo is the perfect place for a holiday. Be sure to visit Clew Bay Bike Hire in town and signup for a kayak tour of Clew Bay and a bike ride to Achill Island. Take the ferry to Clare Island for stunning scenery and an exhilarating bike ride or hike. And of course be sure to climb the Reek. We are looking forward to returning.
Fantastic property in an ideal location to explore county Mayo. We will hopefully be returning for a third time later this year. The house has everything you need for a holiday and there are stunning views from every window. The local gastro pub is within walking distance, as is the foot of Croagh Patrick. I can't recommend it enough. Thanks Mary.
Hi Patricia, So pleased you enjoyed our first two visits to the bungalow. I am very proud of those views especially if you get a calm sea and mirror reflecions. I try to have every thing just right in the bungalow and if there is anything to be sorted whilst you are there, Tom is the right person for that. I hope visit 3 goes as well. Thanks Mary

Hi Columba, delighted you enjoyed your visit. The views are great, aren't they. Not many people mention the maps. They are a well worn but if you are a walker they are very helpful. Thanks a lot. Mary
