Wonderful holiday home with spectacular views

  • 5 of 5

The views of Loch Ness were incredible. Enjoyed the hot tub and the house was big enough for our family of 7. The surrounding area had lovely walks and everyone we spoke to in the area were friendly.

Fantastic property with stunning Loch and mountain views

  • 5 of 5

I highly recommend this property. We have just spent 4 nights there and were very impressed. Very spacious, light and warm this was everything we wished for - the hot tub was an added bonus and used every evening after a day out exploring . The house is big enough to find a quite spot alone if required but this is very much a People place and made for families and groups.

We can recommend the pub near the house as well as Dores Inn (amazing food).

There is ample walking in the immediate vicinity which was excellent as well as nearby boating and mountain biking.

Overall a fantastic time had by us all and we will hopefully return in the not too distant future!

The house is great and really well equipped. Beautiful Scenery.

  • 5 of 5

The area is lovely with lots to do and see. The house is secluded and well kept. There is lots of space and it had everything we needed for our stay. It has a great pub at the top of the lane a 5 minute walk away. It serves nice food and is very friendly.

The booking process was easy and Iain was really helpful and went out of his way to answer any questions.

We will definitely be back.

Thank you for a lovely stay

Owner's Response: Hi there Thank you so much for the review we are at a distance and sometimes it's difficult to get problems sorted quickly as you can in a city. We are delighted that broadband is finally coming to houses in foyers so wifi will. E up and coming soon Best wishes iain

A great time by the loch

  • 3 of 5

This house was a nice place to stay, in a beautiful location. If you're interested in being in a town or city setting, this house is not for you. We weren't looking for that, so this was perfect!

Fort Augustus and Inverness are both a relatively short drive, so you can easily get to shops and be in a town setting before heading back home. You can walk to a pub from the house, so you're not totally isolated! There are a number of really beautiful and well-maintained trails all around the house, so this is a great base for hikers who don't really want to sleep in a tent!

The house itself had comfortable bedrooms and, of course, great views. Nothing above and beyond, except for the location (which was amazing!). This was a perfectly nice and comfortable house for us.

Unfortunately, the house does not have internet access. It was okay because you could walk up the hill for a pint and get online, but it was unexpected. Didn't find that out until after we booked the property. It was actually nice to be unplugged for a few days, but I could see some people might not enjoy that. We were planning to do some online planning in the evenings, but couldn't due to lack of internet. We worked around it, but it would have been better to know ahead of time.

We did have a few issues but, because of lack of WiFi, we were unable to communicate them to the owner until we arrived at our next location. A shower in an upstairs bathroom leaked so badly that we couldn't use it. There were two other bathrooms, one with a shower and one with both a tub and a shower, so it wasn't too much of a hassle. Kind of a bummer, since we did pay for a house that had 3 showers though. The tumble dryer also didn't work, which meant we had to line dry our clothes. Also kind of annoying, but the weather was (thankfully) very nice - so it worked out. If it's rainy out would be in a bad situation. The house was also not stocked with enough dishwasher soap and was almost out of dish soap for washing dishes by hand. There was also no hand soap in any of the bathrooms, and we barely made it through our stay with the amount of toilet paper provided.

Fix the dryer and the shower, make sure the house is stocked with essentials (like soap, toilet paper, etc) for the duration of each stay, and make sure guests are aware there's no internet before booking. With these things changed, I'd give this place 5 stars

Owner's Response: Hello Thank you for the review, Unfortunately WIFI has not been able to be installed in Foyers yet due to reception, this is about to be changed with a new connection which we have applied for, The Craigdarroch Inn and The Cafe in Upper Foyers has WIFI and are happy to supply their no.There is details on the home site regarding this. Regarding the shortage of toiletries and soap, after speaking to the Manager this morning,he has assured me that this was a blip due to new Staff. As we are a long way from the property we have to employ Him to look after the house and deal with linen, cleaning, and general repairs. Which brings me to the tumble dryer which was working the previous week ,the matter is in hand, but again being in the highlands we have to depend on tradesmen to come out not like a town where they call and repair quickly .We hope that you enjoyed your stay regardless of these minor problems, and may return again. Regards Iain Gauld

Beautiful Cottage Stunning location

  • 5 of 5

We have just spent a week in this beautiful cottage for my birthday and our wedding anniversary.. Its very spacious and very well equipped. So spacious that we never sat in the beautiful lounge at all choosing to live in the lovely comfortable sun room just watching the beautiful view over Loch Ness, the wildlife beautiful birds and a red squirrel that ran across the fence and back every morning. Having the hot tub was an added bonus. It is probably the most comfortable cottage we have had the pleasure of staying in. Iain the owner is very approachable and friendly. The weather was very kind to us which was great for chilling in the garden just taking in the peace tranquillity and the view. Loved this cottage we really didnt want to leave!
