About Tim Byrne

Hi, we are Tim and Pauline. We have recently gone freelance after careers in the restaurant trade and Further Education (Teaching English). We now spend our time between the Lake District and Spain where we love walking in the mountains.

Tim Byrne purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Tim Byrne chose Penrith

We have been coming to the North Lakes for over 20 years and it is our favourite retreat from the bustle of city life. We love walking and even on bank holiday weekends we can be alone in the hills behind Blencathra. We also love the local pubs.

Beautiful cottage, fabulous location

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable cottage. Beautifully decorated. Host very helpful. Stairs were fine for us but older people may struggle as quite slippy.

Only improvements would be a microwave and shower more powerful.

Mother, Daughter getaway.

  • 5 of 5

The property had everything we wanted. Quiet and peaceful. A different part of the Lakes for us than our usual haunts. Loved it.

A pleasant stay in a lovely cottage!

  • 4 of 5

We had a pleasant stay in this beautiful cottage. The cottage has a wonderful ambience. All the facilities are fabulous and would be perfect with a better shower! Apart from that our stay in this cottage was absolutely relaxing and felt so comfortable like home. It was our first visit to the Lake District and this cottage is a comfortable distance to travel to many places. We completely enjoyed our stay.

A beautiful cottage in a tiny hamlet with pretty spring flowers and dark night skies

  • 5 of 5

We had high expectations prior to our arrival as Tim responded to all our communications and the cottage was beautifully prepared when we arrived. Milk in the fridge and chocolate biscuits by the kettle as well as materials for the multi fuel Morso stove. The location is fantastic as it's in the countryside but there is great access to A6, M6 and N.Lakes roads. Everything in the cottage is both beautiful and practical and spotlessly clean We will definitely be coming back.

Lovely little cottage, very homey, clean and inviting.

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at this cottage for a long weekend, and enjoyed every second of it. The cottage was so lovely and it really felt like home. Was equipped with mod cons and entertainment for our evenings in. The cottage was very spacious and warm, and the Woodburner was an added bonus.

Tim was very helpful in all communications and provided us with all the information we needed.

We plan on coming back to this cottage next year for a longer visit.

Thank you Tim for a wonderful stay.
