About the property

An exclusive, private and authentic western lodge with modern conveniences...

Located on a ponderosa pine covered ranch, The Harwood Lodge is an exclusive, log and timber framed lodge featuring 5 bedrooms on 3 floors and also includes a separate 1 bedroom cozy little guest cabin located in the woods just down from the main lodge.

A 40' free-standing river rock fireplace serves as the focal point of the main lodge. Privacy and tranquility surround you as you soak in the hot tub, sit around the outdoor fire pit or shoot clay pigeons off of the deck! Located within 10 minutes of 7 lakes and adjacent to Turnbull Nat'l Wildlife Refuge, The Harwood Lodge is THE ideal location for a nature-inspired getaway... (AND: we're just 25 short miles and just 2 turns from downtown Spokane!).

Team Coaches/Advisors: The Lodge is also just 10 short miles from EWU, in a straight line!

GROUP/EVENT PRICING: for larger groups (Business Retreats/Sports Teams/Church Groups/Reunions/Etc.) is as follows: Lodge event rental from Friday at 3PM through Sunday at noon are flat group fees and there is no additional charges for extra, or per-guest fees. We also do not charge extra for RV's or tents if you wish to bring them (please check with us first). Write or call for details.

Holiday weekends (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) are $1299 and includes 3 nights.

EWU, WSU & GU Graduation weekends are usually reserved far in advance and based upon availability on a first come, first served basis, as is Hoopfest weekend. These weekends are $1299 and include 3 nights. Call or write for availability.

Staying at the Lodge is MUCH less expensive for groups and families than staying in individual hotel rooms, eating out and driving all over! And, all in a way more cool and relaxed environment.

Weddings/Events: 10+ guests (Use of the Lodge and entire ranch property, including 1 room guest cabin in the woods) from Friday 3PM through Monday at noon, $2799. $299 per day for each additional day on either side.

So, whether you're just a couple looking for a quiet little getaway for the weekend, a group of friends looking for the ideal yet affordable gathering spot, or a larger group looking for a retreat location, The Harwood Lodge IS your spot!

About Rick Harwood

Rick Harwood, Owner and Operator of The Harwood Lodge, built this amazing home from the ground up.

First, clearing the raw land, thinning the trees with his family and drilling the well in 2004, the Lodge served as the family home, as they moved in on New Year's Day 2005 and since has served as headquarters for Harwood Cattle Company until just recently.

As Outfitters & Ranchers, the Lodge served the family well until the nest grew empty! Rick has now moved operations to the Big Hole Valley of Montana where he continues to run cows and operates The Bunkhouse Hotel in Jackson, MT.

Rick graduated from nearby EWU, earning his BA in 1992 and his Master's in 1999 and holds a special place for Eastern and its family. Go Eags!

The Harwoods would now like to offer up their beautiful Lodge to you and yours to come out and enjoy for yourselves! We know that you will enjoy the amazing sunsets, the fresh smell of the pines and the nightly howling of coyotes as an amazing escape from the hustle and bustle of life in an absolutely beautiful place. From our family to yours, Enjoy....!

Great property; fantastic stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great couple nights here! Rick was prompt and helpful with any questions I had, the house is beautiful, and we would certainly stay here again if we are in this neck of the woods.

Birthday Celebration/Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect spot for out of town family who came to celebrate my mom's 90th birthday. We were able to have 5 generations stay and my mom had such a great time. Tho it is only 10 miles from Cheney you feel like you are out in the woods. We even saw deer feeding a couple of mornings. Hot Tub, cooking smores at the fire pit or just catching up with family, we had a great time. Thanks so much

Nice and Private, But...

  • 2 of 5

The place itself overall is nice, very private, good hot tub, lots of parking ect...although there were a few things some of which have been noted, and lots that had not. Just need to update your amenities list or replace lost and broken stuff! The Beds are ridiculously cheap, and flimsy, that has been noted, we could not find a hair dryer anywhere in any bathroom, there are no lids for any of the pots and pans, and even though there are 2 crock pots only one has a lid and that lid only fits that pot. 2 out of about 8 or more can lights are burned out in the main living area. You leave a lot of personal stuff around the house including a lot of family pictures covering the counters, and coffee tables, which we moved because we needed counter space and replaced, the place needs to be dusted regularly, and hasn't been in sometime, but the biggest issue was there were bugs everywhere, and over the 4 1/2 days we were there they seemed to multiply. I live on acreage in the woods, and I get it, we spray, and yes we do get "the" occasional bug but I have never seen anything like this. If there truly is nothing else you can do about the bugs, you should let people know this happens every spring, it was annoying as they were on the table, found in beds , bathtubs and all over the floors, I should have been forewarned because, if I had I may not have chosen this place as nice as it is because of it.

Owner's Response: Wow... OK. Thank you once more, for your feedback. Apparently, our place did not fit what it was that you were looking for. Please remember that this was/is our family's home, not a hotel or commercial retreat center. Since we last communicated, we have done the following, some of which you are aware due to your suggestion: *All beds in the Lodge have been replaced as of May 1, 2018. *We bought and placed for guest use (2) brand new hairdryers. *We bought and placed for guest use new skillets. *The second crock pot was left by a guest, ours does have a lid. *The entire home was re-dusted on May 2, 2018. *(2) rooms and the hallway were freshly painted on May 2, 2018. *Installed a new apron and deck on/around the hot tub. *We bought and placed for guest use (6) new patio chairs on the upper deck and a new set of patio table & chairs on the lower deck. *The Lodge was treated again on May 1, 2018 to address the annual spring bug issue. Again, thank you for your very detailed feedback. As you can see, we have addressed your concerns and much more to ensure that each guest has a clean, relaxing and cozy stay with us. Also, since we are now publicly sharing concerns, your group left quite a mess at check-out. Along with your very particular list of needs/issues during your stay, and while we appreciate your business, perhaps we are not a good fit for you and your group in the future. Thank you and best of luck, -Rick
