Excellent accommodation in beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

Definitely the place to go for a quiet relaxing break with easy access to lovely walks.

The lodge was very well equipped, clean and comfortable. The arrangements for our stay were well organised and straightforward. We were fortunate to have good weather and went on several walks, as well as visiting the surrounding areas. We would recommend and would be very happy to return.

Owner's Response: So pleased you enjoyed your stay at our lodge Sue, and that you found everything well equipped and organised. Its a beautiful and almost hidden part of Devon isn't it, maybe we'll see you back again sometime. Regards Lesley

superb lodge

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at deer valley lodge over the october half term as a family of four with two children 12 and 10. On arrival we found the accommodation exceeded our expectations. This is a well appointed lodge well equipped with all you need for a great stay. Located in the Teign valley it is well positioned with great links to the main roads giving great access to Interesting sites in Dartmoor national park and Devon also. Great walk to Fingle bridge and beyond to Castle Drogo. Deer visit in the late evening and if you are lucky in the morning. We had a fab time and the owner Lesley very helpful with advice and info.highlights Lydford gorge, the marble museum, visit to Exeter and walk to Castle drogo. Great autumnal walks . Site is quite secluded but shops and a couple of pubs not too far. We loved our stay at the lodge as did the children.

South Devon coast
Car: necessary

The South Devon coast is approx. one hour's drive away. Here you can find

estuaries such as Salcombe, Dartmouth, Teignmouth - ideal for boat trips, sandy beaches like Blackpool Sands with its superb cafe, Bantham - a surfing paradise and Bigbury where you can walk across the sands to Burgh Island. There are also quiet coves and rock pools and for walkers there is the endless coastal path with glorious views of the sea at every step.

Although hidden in this quiet corner of Dartmoor access is very easy. Follow the M5 and then A30 which has a junction at Cheriton Bishop only 10 minutes from the lodges. The port of Plymouth is approximately an hour away and Exeter airport approximately half an hour away by car.

The lodges are located in the Dartmoor National Park. Moretonhampstead with numerous shops, banks, etc. is 10 minutes drive away. Dunsford and Fingle Bridge, both with excellent pubs, are either 10 minutes by car or about one hour by foot along the river. There is a good village shop in Cheriton Bishop 10 minutes by car. Castle Drogo, a National Trust property, is 15 minutes by car or 1.5 hours on foot from the lodges. Chagford and Bovey Tracey are 20 minutes by car.
