About Fenella Elms
Fenella Elms, ceramics artist, works in the workshop at the far end of the long cottage. You will find some of her work in the barn and by prior arrangement you are welcome to visit the workshops to find out more during your stay.
Why Fenella Elms chose Marlborough
Alma Barn is attached to the end of a cottage where the owners, the Elms family, have lived for nearly 20 years. In this time the barn has been used for horses, cattle and lambing before special listing permission was given to restore the barn to make a holiday let from 2012.

Beautiful barn with beautiful surroundings
We were recommended Alma Barn from friends and it did not disappoint. Absolutely stunning countryside and a peaceful village to match. Great pubs nearby or a short car journey to neighbouring towns. We are coming back for sure!
Thank you! We are so pleased to hear this... and look forward to having you back.
We’ve just returned from a weekend stay at Alma Barn and it’s a flawless country bolt-hole
Alma Barn is an imaginatively designed renovation of a historic farm building with two bedrooms on mezzanes above a wonderfully atmospheric living / dining / kitchen area with an adjoining bathroom. The decor, lightning design and furniture are all carefully selected to maximise the overall impression and comfort of the property and we loved everything about it! The owners - Charlie and Fenella - live immediately next door and are extremely helpful, but you rarely see or hear them - Alma Barn is a proper country sanctuary for total relaxation.
My husband and I loved this elegant converted barn. It was very clean and contained beautiful artwork from the owner who is a well known artist. Ardbourne is a quaint town within walking distance. There are many hiking trails in the area. This is unique property and is one of the very best we have ever stayed in!
Gorgeous barn conversion, tastefully decorated, spotless and comfortable.
Absolutely loved the setting and the property. Enjoyed morning coffee on the side patio, watching the birds and looking out over the fields. The interior is bright and open and beautifully done. The kitchen is well supplied, and groceries are nearby. The bathroom is a bit tight but we did just fine.
We had a snafu with the code to enter the building, which was a bit nerve wracking, but all came out ok in the end. It may be wise to get the code a day or two in advance.
We did day trips to Oxford, Bath, and Stonehenge from here. Nearby we came across the Milton Windmill, open Sundays for tours, a real gem. Walked along the Avon canal and had drinks at The Swan in Wilton. Such beautiful countryside!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Thank you Kirsten, so pleased that you enjoyed your stay in Alma Barn together with the lovely countryside surrounding us.
A beautiful place!
This restored barn totally blew me away. The owners are one of the nicest people I have met. The only complain will be the bathroom - a little bit too small.
Otherwise, everything is perfect!!
Thank you Daphne, it was lovely to meet you and your family when you stayed with us.
We do hope that one day you will be back!
