House in Grasmere, Lake District, Cumbria, England - In The Heart Of The Lake District National Park

Rothay Lodge is just a few minutes walk from the centre of Grasmere village with its restaurants, pubs and shops. Rothay Lodge is in a beautiful, tranquil riverside setting with glorious views to the fells and with a stream running through one of the gardens. There are several benches in the gardens, a table with seating for 10 on a large patio and a barbecue. A large lounge with log burner and a dining room each seat 10. There is also a hall with another log burner and more seating and a very well equipped kitchen. Each of the five bedrooms has its own en-suite bath/shower room. The property is suitable for disabled as there is a large ground floor toilet and a stair lift. All gas, electricity, bedding, towels and wi-fi are included. Rothay Lodge can be combined with Rothay Lodge Apartment, a ground floor self-contained apartment which sleeps up to 4 in two en-suite bedrooms.

About Lindsay Rogers

We loved holidaying in the Lake District but never found a self-catering cottage that was suitable as one of our children uses a wheelchair. We bought Rothay Lodge & Apartment in 2003 and made both properties wheelchair accessible and provided everything that we would want from a holiday home.

Grasmere is not only a lovely village and good base for fell walking but there are some lovely low level walks which are suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs

Notes:
Outside: A particular feature of Rothay Lodge is the garden. The large patio area with table and seating for 10 is close to the Greenhead Gill which flows through the garden. A bridge over the stream leads to a barbecue area and an interesting garden which includes a lawned area with benches from which to relax and view the surrounding fells with open views down the valley. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towels and bed linen included.

Lovely, private home with the most amazing views

My favorite memories of Rothay Lodge will be our family meals each evening outside while enjoying the beautiful gardens and the amazing views of the mountains beyond. This is a very special place, and it served our family of ten (2 grandparents, 4 parents, 4 young children) quite well. It had all the amenities we needed and was a perfect distance from the center of Grasmere. Anything within the village is easily walkable, but the home is away from the tourist hustle. We cooked most of our meals at home, and the kitchen supplied all the cooking utensils we needed. A lovely home, and I hope we will be able to return again!

Lovely house in Grasmere

This is a wonderful house for larger groups to spend some time together. With 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms upstairs and a wet room downstairs it was very convenient for our party of 4 couples. The house is only a short walk into Grasmere and the bus stop is just at the end of the lane, very handy as we didn’t want to drive everywhere. We were very lucky with our week as the weather was glorious. Would highly recommend this property

A wonderful property

This was our third stay at Rothay Lodge. We are a group of eight friends and we love this house. it is wonderfully placed for Grasmere and is beautifully maintained. All the bedrooms have en suite facilities, the kitchen is well equipped and the lounge really comfy. There are 2 woodburning stoves downstairs and also an extra wet room . Lindsay is a wonderful host and the booking is effortless and you are kept well informed. I would recommend this house to anyone and we have already booked for 2019.

Absolutely the best!

The house was very comfortable, had everything we needed and was in a fabulous location. We were a group of ten and the house never felt crowded. Wonderful hiking in the area. Lindsay was a great host.

Excellent week in the lakes

I stayed here in November for my birthday with 9 of my best friends. We had a great week exploring the local towns, villages and pubs. We embraced the beautiful scenery and hiked up the hills and strolled along the reservoirs, often popping in to a cafe for a refuel on cake and tea!

The house was beautiful and a perfect location for a big group get together. The bedrooms were large with beautiful views. The kitchen was large and had a wonderful big table where we are many home made meals. The living spaces were cosy and we felt like we were at home, not a guest house.

All in all we had a fabulous weekend and would definitely like to come back for another stays I would recommend this property to anyone with families or big groups looking for a relaxing outdoors holiday in a beautiful tranquil village.

Luxury in Grasmere

A beautiful large comfortable house. Everything was provided and we could not have wished for anything more. Loved our stay even though the weather was typical wet lakes. We will return.

There is a beach area at the South end of Grasmere lake which is on a popular walk around the lake which takes about an hour.

Travel:

The nearest airport is Manchester, about a 2 hour drive away. The nearest train station is at Windermere, a few miles away and with a good bus service to Grasmere.

5 minutes to walk to the centre of Grasmere village

Further Details:

The main attraction of Grasmere is its position in the centre of the Lake District National Park with many walks starting there. The picturesque village itself has plenty of restaurants and pubs for eating.
