About Mrs Jane Wheldon

Hello, my name is Jane , along with my husband Kevin we run Granary-cottage & The Stables cottage. We bought the granary some 12 years ago & converted it into our family home ,now all our children are grown up & moved on to pastures new. Our latest project over the winter (2012) we have converted part of our out buildings to form The Stables cottage, with two bedrooms both En-suite. We enjoy meeting people & take great satisfaction in helping our guests make their holiday special. Kevin has a keen interest in Ryeland sheep and loves to show children our pet lambs & encourages those who would like to feed them. I also run a millinery business (hats to those not in the know !) so summer is a busy time for me.

Mrs Jane Wheldon purchased this cottage in 1999

Why Mrs Jane Wheldon chose Scarborough

The bull pens were included in our initial purchase of the granary. We have enjoyed converting, firstly the Granary, then Granary cottage. Now the last piece of the jigsaw is complete, following conversion of the Bull pens to the luxurious "The Stables cottage". Please visit our web site for more information

What makes this cottage unique

THE STABLES COTTAGE is a new conversion which gives the added luxury of two en-suite bathrooms ideal for 2 couples family & Friends. we can let both our cottages together to larger family groups, to sleep up to 9 plus a travel cot.

Our other cottage GRANARY COTTAGE is all ground floor ideal for those with difficulty going up stairs . Granary ( only) accepts 1 dog , we are child friendly in both our cottages & have a large lawn for children to play on. The views from either cottage are stunning both have private patios and parking.

Absolutely stunning luxury holiday accommodation

  • 5 of 5

To anyone who is thinking of booking this cottage, think no more and book, book fast. You will NOT be disappointed.

FANTASTIC is the only way to describe Stables Cottage.....

Fantastic location.... so much to see and do.

Fantastic cottage.... spotlessly clean with beautiful furnishings and decor. Luxurious yet homely. Very well finished.

Fantastic owners.... Jane and Kevin are so nice, approachable, helpful, very genuine down to earth people. Gave us a warm welcome and were great at giving us advice on where to eat and visit etc.

I would 100% recommend to everyone. We have stayed in lots of holiday cottages and this has been our favourite by far.

Yorkshire is such a lovely area. We had fantastic weather. Filey beach was our little girls favourite place. The stream train was a big hit too. So much to see and do!

Lovely idyllic cottage

  • 5 of 5

We chose stables cottage on the excellent reviews and we're not disappointed, what a lovely cottage sourounded by beautifull views and so peaceful and quiet, all you could hear were the birds and sheep utter bliss. There was a welcome tray to greet us bread, mini eggs and a yummy cake, there was plenty of room for the 4 of us it was so nice having your own bathroom. The cottage is beautiful inside Jane has done a great job and a lot of thought has gone in to it, the fixtures and fittings are high end, at the same time it feels really cosy and homely I didn't want to leave. Stables has everything you need, the beds were so comfortable and if you don't fancy eating out every eve there is everything you need In the kitchen to make a meal. Most nights we had the log burner lit ( not that you needed it because there is central heating and that is plenty). My mum and dad absolutely loved stables and the glorious views and the tranquil setting, just standing there and watching the lambs running around and seeing the various birds and wildlife. We visited troutsdale, Rosedale with there glorious views, Scarborough, Filey, Whitby and Robin hoods bay with Robin hoods bay being our favourite well worth a visit. We had a wonderful week despite it raining on and off and can't wait to return. Jane and Kevin are so welcoming and friendly and nothing is to much trouble many thanks for a lovely stay, can't wait to return. The read family.

Excellent place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

Jane gave us a lovely welcome as we arrived for our weeks stay at Stables Cottage. She showed us where everything was and suggested places to visit and eat. Stable Cottage was spotlessly clean, with everything we needed including milk in the fridge and a lovely cake waiting for us. A quiet location and close to Scarborough, Whitby, Pickering and York. Will be recommending it to friends.
