About Michael Abromowitz
We are a sports mad family who love the activities that the Chamonix Valley provide all year round. We loved Chalet les Drus the moment we first saw it and hope that everyone who stays there gets as much enjoyment as we do from spending time there.
Michael Abromowitz purchased this Chalet in 2010
Why Michael Abromowitz chose Les Houches
The proximity to Geneva Airport and ease of access by road as well as the year round activities that the Chamonix Valley provide were our main reasons for buying Chalet les Drus.
What makes this Chalet unique
Chalet les Drus is the perfect blend of being close enough to all the outdoor and Chamonix town action, whilst being a tranquil oasis to return to after a days activities or simply to be lazy and leisurely in the garden or soaking in the hot tub. The fact that you can have breakfast in France, lunch in Italy (Courmayeur) and dinner in Switzerland followed by coffee in your home country all in one day, is still something that we find amazing!

Outstanding week in the Alps
We stayed in this fantastic Chalet from 2nd Feb 2019. We were a party of 8 adults and 2 dogs. Mike (owner) communicated with us all the way through to our arrival and made it very relaxing knowing we were in safe hands.
The Chalet, well what a fantastic place to call home for a week. It had all we could have expected and was truly amazing. The place was spotlessly clean and very spacious. We are all keen skiers and to come back to this Chalet after a long day on the slopes was perfect. The Hot Tub was a major hit and the view from it was spectacular. The kitchen was more than comfortable for all of us and had all the necessary essentials required. The Table Tennis was also a huge bonus. We had fantastic weather with a meter of snow in the garden so I guess we timed it perfectly.
We done the Euro Tunnel with the dogs and drove down from Calais. Very easy drive which took around 9 hours with two 30 minute stops. To get to the Chalet you have to drive up a lane for about 300yards off the main village road so strongly recommend snow chains if you are driving. I wouldn't have got up to the Chalet if not for these chains so don't get caught out, especially after a long drive.
The Skiing - The village of Les Houches is lovely and spread out well, the main Gondola is about 5 mins on the Ski Bus. The bus stop we used was a 5 minute walk away (down the hill from the Chalet and left for about 400 yards along). We used the Ski Shop outside the bus stop for our rental, which was the cheapest we could find and Christophe was very helpful. The shop is called Cuby Sport 2000. I had a quote off Snowbrainer and mailed it to Christophe, who matched the price. He also let us leave our gear there overnight with the bus stop on the return journey also right outside the shop, which made walking back to the Chalet easy.
Les Houches for skiing was ok. Its not challenging if you are advanced but nice if you want a chilled day it has some fantastic easy blues. Two of our group were first time skiers so it was perfect. There's a couple of bars around the village too, we thought the Kitsch Bar was the best. Food was lovely and live music most days. Also shows all the major sporting events if you want it.
We also took the ski bus and walked into Chamonix where the skiing became a little tougher but was out of this world. Little pricey on the slopes (8-10 euros a pint.)
Overall, outstanding Chalet and highly recommended if you are planning a trip to the Alps !!
Fantastic that you all enjoyed yourself so much at the chalet, Carl!
Thank you too for the comprehensive review and there are some great tips in there.
Hope to see you back at the chalet in the not too distant future.
Spacious and well laid out. Good facilities. Amazing views.
A wonderful holiday in a lovely chalet. Thank you.
Great to hear you loved your time at the chalet, Fiona!
Hopefully this won't be the last time we see you back at the chalet.
Elegant and Comfortable Chalet
Comfortably housed 9 guests, including 3 Children. Michael was very accommodating and easy to work with in all respects. The hot tub and sauna are perfect after a long day on the slopes, which are a short drive or bus ride away. Bring chains in the winter! The hill leading to the neighborhood is steep and impossible to climb without them.
Awesome to hear you guys loved your stay Sergio!
Great tip on the snow chains for the small hill leading from the main road if there has been as much snow as you have been lucky enough to have so early in the season! Hope to see you back at Chalet Drus soon.
Awesome, chalet, location and views of Mont Blanc Massif from the hot tub!
Fantastic chalet with great location for exploring Chamonix. Would definitely stay again!
Great chalet , good communication leading up to the holiday , would go back again
Chalet is a great size , it has first class facilities for entertainment and to relax . The table tennis was a hit and it has a sauna and jacuzzi which were both used . The views from the garden are spectacular and it is a great base for skiing in the Chamonix area , I would go back .
Fantastic that you had such a great time, Ian! You and your family are welcome back anytime!
Excellent chalet close to centre of Les Houches
Excellent well appointed chalet that is around 5 mins walk from the top end of Les Houches town. Great open plan living area with log burner and logs. Four bedrooms are all en-suite and all could be configured as either doubles or twins. Superb views from the dining area and from hot tub of the mountains.
Huge basement TV for watching films, table tennis plus fast wifi everywhere was very popular with teenager members of the party.
Overall the chalet is top notch, has all the kit you need and would highly recommend. Only downside was distinctly dodgy snow in the Chamonix valley, but not much the chalet can do about that. Worth considering that its only around a 40 minute drive to Courmayer through the MB tunnel if you leave in good time in the morning.
Great advice about visiting Courmayeur for additional skiing opportunities very close to Chamonix, Ally! Really happy to hear that you and your family enjoyed your stay in our chalet.
