About the host

Host profile image
My husband and I are both retired from Local Government. We both hail from the South East of England and spent most of our holidays in the English Riveria, finally moving to Devon when we retired. We both feel that Torquay has the best of everything and is now a vibrant and bustling tourist destination for families, couples and business travellers. Torquay is a stylish destination with a truly continental feel. Small wonder then that this area was dubbed the ‘English Riviera’ in the Victorian era. Along Torbay’s 22 miles of coastline are 19 award-winning beaches and coves.

Why they chose this property

BEACHES is a unique contemporary three bedroom house set in one of Torquay’s
most sought-after seaside addresses, close to the secluded Livermead Sands beach. Its clean, cool and contemporary architectural styling joins the legacy of elegant Victorian façades for the perfect blend of old and new. Here you can enjoy all the advantages that a brand new home has to offer: stylish kitchens and bathrooms, energy efficient fittings and the latest wiring for home entertainment. Beaches is a stunning new home and has been individually created to take in the best of the views whilst enjoying modern living. It is situated within a stroll of the lively harbour, palm-lined promenade framing the international marina. Torquay boasts a temperate year-round climate, yet but a few minutes’ walk from the the Livermead Sands Beach where you can enjoy water sports including sailing, kayaking and kitesurfing. Landlubbers will enjoy the panoramic views of the English Channel from the South West Coastal Path, the UK’s longest National Trail.
Torquay’s waterfront is undeniably the focus of life in the town. The striking illuminated Millennium Bridge marks the entrance to the inner harbour, home to a lively mix of shops, cafés and restaurants.

Beaches is also easy walking to Preston and beyond to Paignton, so you can just park up and avoid any driving if you wish. There is South Sands bus stop close by where you can catch a bus to Brixham or Dartmouth. So many beautiful seaside towns to visit which are diverse in character and style. Enjoy the nearby steam railway, one of the best zoos in Devon or simply take a stroll to the lovely Princess Theatre and catch a London show! Walk to Abbey Sands, Cockington, Dinosaur World - the list is endless.

What makes this property unique

Along the main coastal road there are very few self catering properties. Mainly large hotels, Beaches is an award winning contemporary property which sits on the former site of South Sands Hotel. Beautifully designed with floodlit parking to the front, with good sea views, it is one of the premier properties in the area.
