Lovely villa - great facilities and picturesque views
The villa was well equipped, and the views from the balconies were very good. The owner's daughter and family were very helpful, giving us all the help we needed and making us feel welcome, whilst giving us the space to enjoy our holiday. The village is a small but vibrant community, and there was a great deal happening during our stay because of the village festival. There are nice restaurants and a pretty lake just a few minutes drive away. Turin is accessible, and there are a number of interesting smaller places to visit too.
Excellent location, lovely house, wonderful time!
The house was very clean, fully stocked and well laid out. The location was ideal for heading up to the Aosta Valley for a tour of the Alps, and was close enough to permit a day of travel down to the Cinque Terre and Portofino. The amenities exceeded our expectations. We were a party of six, and the only down-side was the bathroom situation. One bathroom per floor left some of us waiting at times, especially when trying to head out in the morning, at a pre-determined departure time. Despite this, we had a fantastic time and especially enjoyed the views of lake and the mountains from the balcony while having breakfast in the morning and dinner together at night.
Spacious and comfortable retreat
We loved the house and it's surroundings. At the time we stayed in the house temeratures were in the range of 38-41 degrees. Nevertheless it was comfartably cool inside also during the night. We even did not miss the pool we always when renting a home in Italy. Also the daughter of the owner lived nearby and could help us with the little demans we had. Cetainly aplace we will consider a next time
Enjoyed very much staying at your holiday home. It was everything we hoped it would be, the quality and quantity of the equipment was the best we have known. We especially enjoyed eating out on the balcony with great views , some days we had to wait for the mists to lift, but that was September.
The village was ideal. It was so good to be able to walk to get almost all one needs, whether it was supplies, meals or drinks and we took full advantage .
There was so much more to see in the area, we hope to return
A fabulous house!
Spent a week here with my husband, 17 year old daughter, and brother-in-law. The house is huge, immaculate and extremely comfortable, and provided a perfect base for exploring the area. We spent many happy hours sitting on the terrace, either sunbathing or watching spectacular thunderstorms in the mountains! The owner's daughter, Louise, lives next door, and provided a lovely welcome when we arrived.
Piverone itself is a lovely little village, and we found plenty of things to do in the surrounding area - we especially enjoyed the drive up to Cervinia at the base of the Matterhorn, and also the spectacular Santuario di Oropa.
A super week - highly recommended!
Stay at Piverone
Beautiful villa, with every amenity. Wanted for nothing. Owners very helpful with where to go and what see. A truly wonderful holiday. Would definitely return. Have already recommended to others.
Turin Casselle airport is 35 minutes drive from the house. Milan Malpensa airport is 50 minutes drive. Both airports are easily reached by motorway and have car hire available.
If you wish to enjoy the beautiful scenery and drive from Britain, the house is 600 miles from the channel tunnel and can be reached through either Switzerland and the Grand St Bernard pass/tunnel or through the Monte Blanc tunnel. Both tunnels bring you into the Aosta valley.
Ivrea, famous for its annual Orange Carnival held each year in Lent, is 5 miles from Piverone.
Turin is 35 miles away and Milan 50 miles.
Lago Viverone is 2 miles from the house, where you can enjoy water skiing and sailing.
If you want to go further afield, Lago Maggiore, one of the "famous" Italian Lakes, is a 45 minute drive from the house. From the banks of the lake at Stressa, you can take boat trips to two islands or a longer trip to Switzerland.
Piverone has several small shops, including a delicatessen, bakery and post office, as well as a bar/restaurant and two Cantina's where you can buy good quality locally produced wine. There are many restaurants in the area and a large supermarket a short drive from the house. ATM machines can be found in the supermarket as well as in the neighbouring Village of Viverone.
Viverone has a swimming club (Oasi) with four swimming pools, slides, crazy golf and volleyball. You could also swim in the lake... if you feel brave enough, the water is very cold even in summer!
"La Serra" behind the house is a large wooded area, ideal for mountain biking.
Free outdoor rock climbing facilities are available on the oustskirts of Ivrea, catering for all grades from beginner to experienced (own equipment is required).
The famous Ivrea Orange Carnival takes place over three days in Lent. There is an evening of fancy dress, a fireworks display, then on the Sunday afternoon, four teams travelling in horse drawn carts travel around the piazza's battling it out with oranges - a tradition that started in the middle 19 century.
Turin is famous for being the capital of the Piemonte region and historically was the home of the house of Savoy. A visit to the Reale Palace is recommended.
The Turin Shroud and the Mole Antonelliana (the largest building in Turin) are well worth a visit. If designer labels are your thing, you won't be disappointed with the shops... and after you've bent the plastic, enjoy an evening aperitivo in one of the smart cocktail bars.
The Aosta Valley has numerous Ski resorts and in the summer these areas are ideal for walking. Take a cable car from the town of Aosta to Pila, or view the Matterhorn from the Town of Cervinia.
Throughout the year there are many festivals celebrated in the surrounding villages to enjoy, as well as places of cultural and historical interest to explore.
