Le Cairn is a lovely, family friendly apartment with a great, homely 'feel'. It's been largely refurbished, with an open plan kitchen/dining/living room.
Please note: it is on the 3rd floor (nice and quiet) but there is no lift
Everything you need is close by, shops, tourist office, bars, restaurants and skiing. On the ground floor of the building there are 2 restaurants and a patisserie.
Our family have been using this apartment for many years, and have always had wonderful holidays there. The refurbishments have made a huge difference as well.
November 2016 has seen brand new double glazed french windows throughout, and summer 2017 has been a total refurb of the living space, with a new kitchen with dining area and open plan to the living room. The old kitchen is now bedroom 2, and the main bedroom temporarily has bunks and a single in it. Both the bedrooms will have double beds with single bunks over, so sleeping 3. There is also a clic clac sofa bed in the living room.
We have a new, full size bath with shower over, and a separate toilet as well as the one in the bathroom, so 2 toilets in all.
The kitchen has all the normal things: fridge, cooker, oven, dish-washer, sink and lots of cupboards.
There is a huge ski locker in the basement, which is warm enough to leave your boots in, so no trekking up and down the stairs with heavy skis and boots! This locker is also big enough to hold a couple of bikes, and the door to the ski locker room is locked as well as the individual lockers, so it's quite secure.
The large balcony faces west, so is ideal for aperitifs at sunset. For road cyclists it would be possible to carry your bikes up to the balcony if required.
Although most people think of the centre of town, or the Venosc end; the location of the Cairn apartment building could not be better. The entrance is approx 100m from the lift pass/tourist office ('Point I), about 200m to the Vallée Blanche lift, and about the same to the Champamé slope with the meeting place for the ESF and their Jardin des Enfants. Access to the skiing on the Jandri side is also via either the Village, or the Belle Etoile chairlifts, neither of which have queues unless you go at exactly the time the ESF move off.
On the ground floor we have 2 restaurants, both different: Eli's and TribeCa. There is also a patisserie for your fresh breakfast croissants.
The nearest ski shop is about 100m away, the nearest supermarket about 250m and there is parking in the street outside.
