Guestbook comments from the manager

I am so pleased to have found Osborne Cottage. I always loved this area, which is very special to me, but most self catering accommodation in the area is not within walking distance to the 3 fabulous beaches or in the village. The Cottage is furnished to a high standard, very cosy & comfortable. Its equipped with everything you could need - I loved the 'Cath Kidston' towels & beautiful bedding. We weren't too fussed if it did rain outside because there was the Wii to play, board games, jigsaws & good books to read & all the TV channels.

We sat out in the garden which was perfect - so quiet & peaceful. We went to Muneroys Tearoom for a lovely meal & delicious toffee meringues. We also had a lovely meal in the Argyll Arms Hotel. Everyone we met was very friendly & welcoming.

We would definitely recommend the cottage - I've already booked for next year.

As usual a great stay. One problem I should point out though is the feather pillows etc. One of our company is allergy to feathers. However thankfully we managed to work with blankets and pillows found in the wardrobes.

Thanks again.

So looking forward to going to what was described as a luxury cottage . We always stay in cottages for holidays and this was by far the most expensive and poorest quality ever . The house unfortunately was not very clean ,in particular the kitchen with dust everywhere and dead flies embedded in the cooker extractor hood . The main bathroom also needs a regrout as there is mould, the hand basin was chipped and toilet bowl cracked with evidence of an attempted repair . The main bed duvet smelled sweaty and there were no pillow protectors - pretty basic requirement in a good quality let ! Every other cottage we’ve stayed in had a lovely welcome pack filled with local produce -not even a pint of long life milk in this one ! The info regarding WIFI gave code for Sky although it was actually BT so we had to find pass key ourselves . Please, please get this place a good deep clean and stop advertising it as luxury as it is not . If it wasn’t for the wonderful weather which allowed us to spend little time in the house we’d have packed up and gone home very quickly .Please also be aware that we are anything but house proud and have a home with many visitors ,dogs , cats and even a rabbit who hops in and out as she wishes but this place was basically unclean with filthy skirting boards and bedroom carpets stained with who knows what ! What a let down and in view of our experience here we doubt if we would use HomeAway again .

Owner's Response: Firstly, we would like to take this opportunity to apologise for your disappointing experience in our cottage. We are a small family run business and take great pride in our two cottages we offer for rental.. As we do not stay local to the property, we employ the services of a local couple to carry out the housekeeping duties on our cottage and they have done this to a very high standard over the past seven years. Therefore it is extremely disheartening to hear that our property was not up to our usual standards, in terms of cleanliness. It is all the more disappointing on this occasion, because we have received previous reviews online and in our guest book, praising the cleanliness and presentation of our cottage. This is something we will address as a matter of urgency. As far as the main bathroom is concerned, we would thank you for bringing to our attention these issues, as we were unaware of them. We will address these as a matter of urgency. With regards to the bedlinen, we have four changes of linen for every bedroom which are freshly laundered at every changeover. We have supplied pillow protectors for every room and are surprised to find they were not in the main bedroom. This must have been an oversight. The duvets are all quality goose feather and are replaced every year. We do not supply or advertise a welcome pack. There is a shop next door to the cottage which stocks general provisions. If any of our guests are arriving late and request some provisions, we would happily sort this out. We have recently changed over from Sky WIFI to BT WIFI and unfortunately we have not managed to the cottage to change the information in the Welcome Folder. As far as the carpets are concerned, we have made our cottage as child and pet friendly as possible and due to this, our floor coverings perhaps will take a bit of punishment. I have arranged to go to our cottage to meet with our housekeepers and look at the issues you have raised. Kind regards Ian and Gillian

Osborne cottage is everything it says on the tin! Beautifully presented in terms of accommodation (3 spacious bedrooms) and extremely well equipped. Just like walking into a family home and more than adequate for our 3 generation family. We visited on recommendation and were not disappointed!! We will definitely return to further enjoy the fabulous cooking and baking at the local cafe Muneroy, golf at Dunaverty, wonderful scenery and, for children and dogs, fantastic beaches. I'd recommend Osborne cottage and Southend to all age groups.

Dunaverty Beach is close enough to Osborne Cottage’s garden to hear the waves lapping the shore. Cairskey Beach is a five minute drive away and offers magnificent long sandy beaches, broken by the occasional strand of rock pools filled with crabs and little fish waiting for the tides to come back in.

Osborne Cottage is a pleasant 3 hour drive from Glasgow Airport

There is so much waiting just minutes from your doorstep when on holiday at Osborne Cottage! Open your front door in the morning and the smell of freshly made home baking will waft in from Muneroy’s tea room and village store a few metres away. The magnificent Dunaverty Golf Course, with its breath taking views over Dunaverty Rock and over the bay and beyond towards Ireland’s Antrim coast.

Further Details:

With Campbletown a short drive away, you’ll have easy access to two supermarkets, a hospital and the award winning Aqualibrium, with its twenty five metre swimming pool, fitness suite, library and cafe.
