La Godefrere is a lovely and restful holiday gite nestled on the borders of Normandy and the Pays de la Loire, this converted 100 year old farm building has been renovated to a high standard and offers superb accommodation for between 2- 4 (+2) guests. Set in a pretty courtyard at the end of a quiet lane (ideal as a central base for touring) you will find the peace and relaxation you deserve as you enjoy the panoramic views over the beautiful surrounding countryside. There are plenty of opportunities for walking and cycling or water and other sports nearby if you feel energetic! You can also enjoy the varied wildlife around the grounds and enjoy our developing gardens. You can watch our resident little owls who nest in the gite roof and hunt in our garden during daylight hours. We now have our own nature trail with ant experience. Of course you can also sit and relax and sample French food and wine. If you need to stay in touch with the real world we have English and French TV and free Wifi connection.

About Graham Parish
I live at La Godefrere with my wife Kate and two cats, Archie, who came with the house when we bought it in August 2012 and a new addition, Moggie, we also now have three hens and they all keep us amused (we also look after some sheep and lambs). We are both retired and decided to spend our retirement living in France. I'm a keen bird watcher and Kate is a gardener and we both enjoy nice wine and good food. Rural France is a perfect location for all our needs!
Graham Parish purchased this House in 2012
Why Graham Parish chose Couesmes-Vaucé
We wanted to buy a property with plenty of garden and the opportunity to have a gite. The Mayenne/Normandy border is ideal as there is plenty of rural property and the location is not too far from the ferry ports. We are just a mile from a village and live in a small hamlet of 4 properties, but we are also close to some big towns for shopping etc. With 5 acres of land we have all the garden we need and more!
What makes this House unique
La Godefrere is in a beautiful rural location with plenty of land for garden and for wildlife and for getting exercise. It is perfect for peace and quiet and sipping a glass of wine. If you are feeling energetic we have two bikes you can use. There are loads of lovely places to visit. In addition there are lots of birds, foxes, hares, bats and butterflies to see. We have been developing a nature walk around our grounds. Not only do we have a lovely gite to let out but underneath we have developed a games room with pool table and other entertainments. We are happy to share our knowledge of local wildlife. We now have a pair of little owls who nest in the gite roof and can be seen during daylight hours.

Overall the Gite is very accommodating, well furnished and well provisioned for self catering.
Our overall experience of the Gite is that the facilities are fantastic, however the timber stairs from the games room to the living accommodation are very steep as are the stairs from the living area to the two bedrooms.
The master bedroom (with double bed) is impossible for two people to use due to the sloping roof makes the access to the far side of the bed a difficult process. Much banging of heads.
The timber floors are also very noisy.
Our opinion overall, is this has been as great Gite to live in, visitors need to be aware of the stair issues.

Cranfield April 2017
We arrived quite late at night but still received a friendly welcome. The property was lovely. Quite large and so well equipped. It was in a lovely peaceful location. A lovely garden for enjoying a lovely glass of wine in the evening.
We will definitely consider staying here again on our next stay in Normandy.
Visiting places like Vire and Bagnoles de l'one is a must......but closer to home is Le Pas. About 2km away. Fanfy Tabac is a lovely friendly place to have a coffee with the locals.
Echt vakantie! Graham en Kate zijn zeer vriendelijk.
