About Jaki Bennett

I had long dreamed of a owning a Breton property and fell in love with this granite barn on my first visit; covered in snow, it was cosy and welcoming inside, complete with chickens and straw! It took 4 years of love and care to create the lovely home you see today. I enjoy space, light and natural building materials and have incorporated these into its' renovation. Family and friends have enjoyed visits to La Provotais, I have local friends who help me care for the property and provide a warm welcome to visitors. Feel free to ask me any questions, share any ideas or suggestions about the house or the area. I want visitors to have happy times!

Jaki Bennett purchased this in 2005

Why Jaki Bennett chose Malansac

One visit to Rochefort en terre is all that is needed to enchant and delight any visitor! The mix of oak forests, streams, farms and medieval towns make Morbihan a magical place. The quiet roads through farmland are a pleasure to drive down, making the salt marshes and beaches a short drive away.

What makes this unique

Approached through a stone arch, the barn is set in an old farm yard with other stone farm buildings, now all homes. There is a working dairy farm nearby, with about 40 cows. Neighbours have chickens and goats, with their accompanying sounds! The west facing terrace offers the chance to enjoy barbecues watching the sun set through the oak trees. Night time is very dark in this part of Brittany so it's a great chance to look at the stars.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The visitors book at the property has very positive comments from previous holidaymakers. I am happy to say that families have returned 2 or 3 times, which is testament to their satisfaction.

Excellent gite

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable and well kitted out gite, situated in a beautiful and quite part of malensac. Close to supermarket and other sites of interest, beautiful medieval villages, such as rochefort en terre, and super beaches, such as damgan. Would highly recommend.

Peaceful, rural location. Well equipped and beautifully converted barn

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at La Provotais was extremely enjoyable and relaxing. The barn was beautifully converted, whilst retaining many of the original features to add to it's charm. The kitchen was a good size and well equipped and all the basic items required in a self catering property (such as soap, cooking oils etc) were available, which I think is essential for these kind of places.

If a rural setting is what you're after, then this place is ideal. The neighbours were really friendly and provided us with fresh eggs, whilst the nearby dairy farm supplied our milk, so fresh that it was still warm (and smelt a little funky)! Naturally, the kids loved seeing the chickens and cows and overall this is a great place for families.

It was also well located with regard to accessing Vannes and the Gulf De Morbihan for an amazing variety of beaches and gorgeous towns, but also had a few gems on it's doorstep. In particular, Rochefort en Terre, with its beautiful medieval buildings, cobbled streets and boulangerie (for the quintessential morning pastry run) and the nearby swimming lake, with its sandy beach and pedalos.

I only wish we'd had a longer stay to explore this beautiful area a little further.

Finally, just a few minor negatives/additions that would could improve the stay for future visitors, one of which I'm aware is due to be resolved shortly anyway.

1) A large dog visited most mealtimes and with young children running about, this isn't ideal and meant we had to be very aware when the kids were in the garden. That said, the owner is intending to put fencing up soon, which will negate this and provide parents with a lot more peace of mind when the little ones are outside, particularly as our youngest was constantly disappearing round the front of the property.

2) there were no blinds on the velux windows in the two double bedrooms. Some people may not find this an issue, but I prefer a darker room in the morning, so we strung up some blankets. Not a big deal, but worth noting.

3) A trampoline in the garden! The perfect babysitter when you're trying to get ready for a day at the beach.

4) couldn't find any BBQ tools.

Basically, we had a lovely stay and enjoyed the tranquility offered by this property and would love to return for another visit in the future.

At present, probably more 4.5 stars, but as that wasn't an option, I'd rather give it 5 than 4!

Many thanks

Ideal para todo

  • 5 of 5
