Woodgate Lodge is a 4 bedroomed, detached house located in the popular Purbeck village of Studland with its wonderful sandy beaches. It is an ideal base for family seaside holidays as well as walking, cycling, bird watching, riding and golf. The house is situated on National Trust land with plenty of walks and cycle tracks directly accessible from the property. It is on a quiet unmade lane with an enclosed garden laid to lawn, making it ideal for children. There are 2 double bedrooms and 2 twin bedrooms , en-suite bathroom to the master bedroom, family bathroom, downstairs w/c, sitting room and dining room, with door to the terrace, leading to the kitchen and a utility room. To the side and rear are paved terraces with a BBQ and there is parking for 2 cars. The beautiful Dorset countryside is on the doorstep with its Jurassic Coastline, Historic monuments and idyllic country pubs. Water sports facilities are available on Studland and Swanage beaches. The highly rated Pig on the Beach hotel/restaurant is in Studland, 10 minutes walk from the house and Rick Stein is opening his new Seafood Restaurant in November 2015 just a ferry ride away in Sandbanks.

Short breaks are available between April 1st and 27th May and between 23rd September and 21st October and between 28th October and 16th December. Please contact owner for prices.

My wife and I spent a great week at Woodgate Lodge with our son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren.

The location was perfect for us, with splendid views over the countryside to Poole Harbour, a beautiful beach within easy walking distance and a well stocked village store close by.

The house itself is obviously a much-loved family home and was just what we need. Set in a pretty garden, it is spacious, well equipped and very comfortably furnished. The two good-sized living areas gave us plenty of room to spread out so that everyone could find that peace and quiet we all need occasionally!

We had everything we could possibly want on holiday-lots of books, maps, CDs, games etc. Even a piano!

We enjoyed our lunch at the local restaurant - The Pig where the food was imaginative, with home-grown produce from their own kitchen garden and plenty of space in the grounds for relaxation and play.

Down on the beach we ate at the little cafe which offers a good menu.

We haven hesitation in recommending Woodgate Lodge to anyone looking for excellent accommodation with both sea and superb National Trust countryside on the doorstep!

The back is mainly laid to lawn with a terrace, trees, shrubs and flowers. Utility Room: Utility room with tiled floor, butlers sink and washing machine. Beautiful, comfortable house with stunning views

Woodgate Lodge is a cheerful and well-equipped house. It is beautifully decorated and a real 'home from home'. Its location is great - within walking distance of Studland beach and easy for exploring the delightful Isle of Purbeck. There are plenty of local walks for which a car is not necessary eg the walk to the Agglestone and to Old Harry Rocks. I couldn't recommend it more highly.

Fabulous home

Fantastic position with beautiful gardens and views. A getaway from it all holiday. The Isle of Purbeck is a special place and Studland occupies a special place within it.

Lovely location with a great view from the bedrooms

We stayed here with friends, for the first bank holiday in May 2018, and we were spoilt with the weather. The house was just what we needed - it had plenty of space, a lovely garden and was no distance from the beach and village - and lovely walks across the heath behind Studland (best views ever!). It had everything we needed and felt very homely. I would love to go back as this is such a lovely part of the UK. I would definitely recommend anyone thinking of staying here, to get booking!

Beautiful property in a stunning location

We booked this property for my in-laws to stay in for a few days last weekend as we got married in Studland. They loved it - and were very reluctant to leave which was unfortunate as we planned to stay to complete our honeymoon! Luckily they were persuaded to go home and we spent a glorious few days walking the Heath and generally relaxing. Possible the best thing was the incredible thunder and lightening storm over Bournemouth which we witnessed from the huge picture windows. Also it was very clean, well maintained with a lovely garden and lots of personal touches. Our top recommendation is Joe's Cafe on South Beach for Paella on Fridays during July and August.

Fabulous location close to Heath and Beach

We stayed for a long weekend to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary with friends. We loved the location for great walks from the doorstep onto the Heath and down to the beach. We enjoyed a meal at the Pig Hotel but even better was the Shell Bay overlooking the sea. The house was lovely with everything you need, and fabulous views from the bedroom and lounge. Can't wait to go back. C&J

The beautiful sandy beaches of Studland are within 15 minutes walk, but also have ample parking facilities.

Swanage beach is approximately 3 miles away.

The South West Coastal path, with its beautiful coastal views, is accessible from the Studland beaches and leads to the Jurassic coastline and Purbeck hills.

Travel:

Bounemouth airport 50 minutes and Southampton airport 85 minutes. Heathrow and Gatwick are 2.5 hours away. Train from Waterloo to Wareham is 2.25 hours.

Distances:

The house is located on the edge of the village on an unmade leafy lane.

Studland post office/shop approximately 0.5 miles.

Beaches and pub approximately 0.75 miles.

Swanage (approximately 3 miles) is a traditional seaside town with a range of shops, watersport facilities and famous steam train.

Poole and Sandbanks are easily accessible via the chain ferry approximately 2 miles away.

Corfe Castle, a traditional Dorset village with its famous castle is approximately 5 miles away.

Further Details:

The Studland post office and store offers a good range of products, including newspapers, fresh bread and local Dorset produce.

Studland Riding Stables offer wonderful rides to novice and experienced riders.

There are cafes on all the beaches offering a range of food, ice creams and drinks.

There is a wide variety of restaurants within 15 minutes drive.

The Pig on the Beach opened in June 2014 in Studland - part of the successful upmarket Pig chain of hotels and restaurants.

Rick Stein is opening his new Seafood Restaurant in Sandbanks in November 2015, a quick drive across the chain ferry.

There are a wealth of attractions in the area including Monkey World, The Bovington Tank Museum, Lulworth Castle, (host to Camp Bestival) , the RSPB reserve at Arne and Kingston Lacy.

Swanage hosts a number of festivals throughout the year including the carnival week in July, the Folk, Jazz and Blues Festival and Purbeck Arts Week.
