Loom Cottage No 6 Central Southwold /GARAGE(Sleeps 4, 2 Bedrooms)

Bedroom 1 has a double bed, bedroom 2 two single beds. Both rooms are very comfortable, with ample duvets/bedding. The boiler is located in one of the wardrobes in the dble bedroom. Hair dryer available.

1 downstairs bathroom, with bath, wc and power shower. Shower switch is outside the bathroom door.

Fully fitted kitchen/diner with a washer/dryer/electric hob/double oven/microwave/toaster/fridge/ice box. (Appliances all electric). There is seating for four, and a stable door which leads to the outside yard. Door giving access to upstairs.

Entering via the front door, the lounge has 1 3 seater sofa bed, 1 2 seater sofa, 1 comfy chair/ 1 footstool/ a large bookcase/ a 32 ins flat screen tv (Freeview)/Blu Ray DVD player. There is an attractive fireplace, with a large mirror. Leads to small, bright lobby area with small window/area for coats/understairs cupboard with hoover etc. Property has full electric central heating, eco friendly. Free WiFi, not guaranteed in event of breakdown.

FREE WiFi. Loom (no 6) and Weavers (no 5) are both lovely character cottages, pre dating 1840. They can be booked individually or as a pair (great for extended family breaks allowing privacy yet close proximity at the same time). Weavers and Loom Cottage are located in central Southwold, off the High Street and Southwold Common.Accessed from The High Street, past the Blythe Hotel (after crossing Mights Bridge), then turning right at John Bennett's Architect's shop straight into Spinners Lane. At the end of Spinners Lane, lies 'Rope Walk' where rope and fishing net twine was made in the mid 19th century.There are 2 semi detached white-washed cottages (can be booked as a pair or on their own) on the right as you enter the Lane, and Loom Cottage is the furthest cottage, Weavers is the cottage closest to you in the photos, both are compact and comfortable, with a real 'home to home' feel. There is an outside area to the front of each property, where it is perfect to sit and watch the world go by, there is a bench at the front of Loom, table and chairs at the front of Weavers. There are many homely additions indoors, including a really good book and an impressive dvd collection featuring up to date releases. We welcome dogs (for a small additional charge, 2 is OK), on the proviso they stay downstairs! The property is very old, but it has been sympathetically updated, with comfy furnishings. Spinners Lane has only 7 other properties, and the garage is just 15 metres down the Lane. There is a small back yard, with table and chairs, just outside Loom kitchen. No 5 (Weavers) has a smaller back yard and access across the rear of the Loom. In reality this is usually only applicable to take the bins round to the front. Both back yards are enclosed. The pubs, shops and beach are all within 10 mins walk away, fish & chip shop 2 mins walk! The cottages can be booked individually or as a pair, and throughout the year/short breaks/ weekends etc (although these would be mainly out of season). Weavers Cottage (nearest to you in the picture) is very similar (see pictures) and it's hard to choose between the two! The garage for Loom is clearly marked, and in the lane and there is parking in the lane (subject to availability) for Weavers occupants and additional Loom residents. We always manage to park in the lane! It is always possible to load and unload right outside the cottages, which is very convenient. There is additional free parking on the common, just 2 mins walk away! There is a comfy roll up double mattress we can supply on request for Weavers and Loom has a sofa bed in situ downstairs, so the cottage can sleep 6 (discuss first, 5 would be much easier) at a push. We can also provide a travel cot on request. Staircase in Loom is enclosed, with a handrail, not very steep at all (not like some cottage stairs we have seen which can be scary). Just 10 stairs in Loom, 9 in Weavers. We do welcome children and pooches, we allow 2 (fees apply) but we must know the breed/s. We have a travel cot which we can supply on request. We are very flexible out of season offering stays from 1 night minimum.

About Kerry Pace

For generations, my family have had connections with Southwold and my grandmother retired to Walberswick. It was my dream to live in Southwold one day and my husband Steve and I moved to St George's Square, Reydon in 2015 from Warlingham, in Surrey! We both worked in nearby (the joy!) Croydon and decided (practically on a whim) to chuck it all in and manage Loom and Weavers Cottage ourselves! It has proved a great decision! We go back to London often as we have friends and family there, but not for a moment do we regret giving up our full time jobs. We keep busy because we are far too young to actually retire! We eat better, love the walks, the people and everything about Southwold; the pier, the fish & chips (Marks' & Mrs T's), The Electric Picture Palace, The Crown, The Swan (Sunday roast in the bar), Southwold Common, the marshes (walks and views), the harbour, the surrounding areas; Walberswick, Minsmere, Snape, Beccles, Norwich and (further) Woodbridge, the locals, Adnams, the beach huts, the lovely grand houses, the smaller quirky/quaint houses. I even love the wind and the weather now..less rain than our other coasts, hence 'the sunshine coast' tag. As we now live in St George's Square, Reydon, we are just up the road, so we can be on hand should guests require our assistance.

Why Kerry Pace chose Southwold

Well, the cottages really are in a perfect position. They are situated in a private road, which has parking and privacy and yet it is just off the High Street! It's great to be able to step out and be seconds away from Southwold Common, and minutes away from everything you need in Southwold. Everybody comments on the location, it is lovely! Great for walking, and absolutely fab if you have pooches! I didn't even know Spinners Lane existed, it's so tucked away! It's really giving you the best of both worlds because it's also so central!We never thought we could buy a property in Southwold, but with much 'shuffling of finances' I persuaded my husband it would be a perfect place to unwind, away from the stresses of normal life. I have a real family connection with the area, and the journey from London was another factor, which meant that within 2 1/2 hours we could be in another world...I love the landscape of Suffolk, the beautiful light and 'big' skies, plus the lovely areas for walking. Southwold boasts excellent cuisine, bijou shops, has a Summer theatre and a 'grandness' about it, but it is also completely unspoilt, with a real 'old world' charm. There is much to enjoy in nearby Aldeburgh, Snape is ideal for music lovers, Minsmere is an area of outstanding natural beauty, and there's always a sup of Adnams !!

What makes this cottage unique

We bought both Cottages for the location,(Weavers first 14 years ago) and have spent many happy holidays with numerous family members since. It's amazing how many people fit into each front room for a get-together (10 last year!). We chose this area because it's so central, but 'far from the madding crowd' and not right 'on the road'. I've been visiting Southwold all my life but never knew Spinners Lane existed, it's hidden from the main road and blissfully quiet, with the tranquillity of the common on the doorstep. Cottages are compact, and the rooms are well-proportioned, so four people can comfortably enjoy their stay.The garage(Loom) and the parking availability for both are a real asset. We also love the seated areas at the front, a great vantage point to watch the world go by..! It is rare in Southwold to have such good parking availability, and fab to be able to unload so close to the property without having to park on a yellow line!

Notes on prices:
Usual price for a 3 night stay (usually only available out of season) = £240.00 can sometimes be flexible with dates/times subject to other guests arrival/departure) plus returnable £50.00 damage deposit and £25.00 pet(dog) fee, (£10.00 for a short break).
Jan/Feb/March/Nov/Dec are considered out of season, although no harm in asking, it's all subject to availability!

Free WiFi available, (service not guaranteed in the event of a breakdown Outside: Bench in front of Loom, table and chairs at front of property of Weavers, lovely area to sit and watch the world go by for occupants of both cottages. Enclosed area with table and chairs behind Loom, accessed via a wrought iron gate at the side of the property. Small enclosed yard at rear of Weavers, pedestrian right of way allowing access across the rear of 6 Spinners Lane. However, right of way usually only used to wheel bins around the side on a weekly. Garage available with Loom( in the lane) and parking subject to availability also in the lane for Weavers ( we have never failed to find a place) otherwise parking also available on nearby Southwold Common, just 2 minutes walk away. Southwold's renowned 9 hole Golf Course is literally on the doorstep. Dogs, £25 pw or £15 for a short break. Will consider 1 or 2 night stays out of season....

Missed Opportunity

Cosy & great location

Comfy cosy cottage tucked away from High St but within very short walking distance off all Southwold has to offer. Cottage is spotlessly clean with great range of dvds & books provided. This was our 2nd stay in these cottages & will definitely return. Owner Kerry is very helpful & friendly. Can't wait to go back ☺

Special interest holidays:

Visit 'Out of Africa' in nearby Pakefield (can take a bus), it's well worth a look!

The area is a prolific bird watching spot (visit Minsmere Nature Reserve), there are cultural events held at Aldeburgh, and the area is swamped with literary and music festivals. Southwold has a Summer theatre, Snape is a haven for music lovers. Norwich is a 30 min drive, with an excellent shopping centre. Woodbridge is a charming town, beautifully positioned on the river. See 'the house in the sky' at nearby Thorpeness. Beccles and Saxmundham (a historic market town) are worthy of a visit. Walberswick is a lovely village, with two good pubs with lovely gardens. Dunwich (which boasts a small museum) has some lovely sights. It's a great area for walking and cycling.


Maximum 10 minute walk to the beach and pier, Southwold has a lovely sandy beach, famous for it's colourful beach huts and award winning quirky pier. In recent years the pier was voted 'Pier of The Year' by Coast magazine, well worth a visit. There is a boating lake right near the pier, and also more traditional amusements.. Neighbouring Walberswick also has a lovely, natural beach and is also home to the annual crabbing competition. Check out the 'Voyager' boat trips from the harbour...


Car not necessary if staying in Southwold/Reydon.

The nearest airport is Stanstead, approx 1hr 15 mins.

Nearest Railway Station, Darsham/Halesworth.


Beccles...20 mins drive, Dunwich.. approx 6 miles (20 mins drive).

Walberswick..(15 mins drive), approx 6 miles in car/can walk over the bridge, just 10 mins walk/or ferry from the harbour.

Southwold has a Tesco Express(open late), and a Co-op Supermarket.

There are numerous boutiques, restaurants, tea shops, antique shops, two really good hotels, and many b & b's. There is an Indian takeaway, several art galleries, a quality deli, a renowned butchers, a bakers, Coffee Shops, and several newsagents, including Smith's. There is a unique 'Picture Palace' and a Summer Theatre season. If you're a 'foodie' then there is The Swan Hotel for fine dining (the Sunday roast was listed in The Sunday Times top 30 in England) and The Crown. You can eat in the bar in The Swan in you prefer a more informal setting, and The Crown is child friendly...both are cheaper than London prices. The Nelson provides a good standard of pub food, and is very popular, and the fish and chip shop does a roaring trade! The Tap Room (The Swan) is a must go!
