comfortable and spacious with a beautiful view
Lakeview was lovely, rooms very generous and lovely comfortable beds just what you need after a day sightseeing. Good location for other popular villages. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will certainly return to the Peak District later in the year.
Fantastic location, clean and comfortable with helpful owner
We had a great Christmas period at this property. We were two families sharing this property, our family sharing the big master bedroom (parents and two boys ranging 5 and 9 years old). The master bedroom has amazing view and en suite bathroom. The other family occupied the other two double bedrooms. We were all catered for at Lakeview! Pamela went beyond expectations providing Christmas wreaths in the dining room, Christmas decorations, stocking and decorated tree. The property was clean and the grounds well maintained. Pamela was very helpful and nothing we asked for was too much for her to sort out. The hot tub we rented from Midlands Hot tub was ready for us on arrival and it was situated so you had a fantastic view over Carsington Water. I would recommend Lathkill walk as well as walking along Carsington Water (starting at the property) to Miner's Arms in Hopton village as both these walks were not too far for the 5 and 9 year old. We had snow two days after Christmas which made sitting at the great log burner cosier. We are looking forward to returning in the summer!
Very spacious and comfortable
The property was kept in good condition and bedding and towels provided were clean and comfortable. It was a lovely location too.
Wonderful house with great view
This is a house to be recommended! It's beautifully decorated, spacious and has a wonderful view of Carsington Water. It is very spacious, and the master bedroom is huge with wonderful views. The beds are really comfortable with luxurious white linen bedding. We had a wonderful time here. We can recommend eating at the Miner's Arms in Hopton village, and the breakfasts at the visitor centre at Carsington Water are excellent. The wifi was good, but the phone signal intermittent if you need to use your phone a lot. We can thouroughly recommend this house. Pamela was really helpful, and provided loads of information regarding the locality. Thank you - I am sure we will return!
We chose this property to spend my partner's 60th birthday with family. The house was comfortable and the outlook was beautiful. We were disappointed, however, about discrepancies between the website description of the property and what transpired in actuality. The accomodation was described as "luxury" standard, and although this was borne out in some ways, (comfortable beds and nice linen), we felt the failure to provide more than one towel per person when we had hired the optional spa pool was inconsistent with a luxury standard - particularly when no laundry facilities were provided (in contradiction to the website information supplied at the time of booking). When we enquired about the lack of Laundry facilities, Pamela did offer to do our washing for us, however I found it very uncomfortable having to drop off and collect washing from her.. Similarly, providing just half a roll of toilet paper for the five of us who shared the main bathroom (considering we arrived on Saturday afternoon and could not easily access a supermarket) was inadequate. More seriously, we were disappointed that conflict arose over the use of the barbecue, which at the time of booking was clearly described as available for our use. After using the barbecue we were scolded the next day for doing so, which made us quite uncomfortable. Furthermore, after adressing some of these issues with Pamela, we found her strangely stand-offish. I note the website has now been updated to accurately reflect amenities available.
Thank you for your review and we are delighted that you were pleased with the comfort, the linen and spectacular views from the cottage. When guests choose to take the option of renting a spa pool directly from Midland Hot tub Hire, they normally come prepared with any additional towels/dressing gowns required. We provide 2 towels for each person, per rental, a hand towel and a bath towel, so we are really sorry this didn't work for you. Part way through the week as requested by yourself, I changed all of the towels, at no extra charge. This is not included in the rental. You may recall you actually forgot to book the spa pool and it was only down to my intervention the day before you arrived that I managed to arrange this for you at very short notice, with Ian from Midland Hot Tubs having to travel over 70 miles to fulfil your request. I consider this outstanding service. We clearly state that we can offer a laundry service and this has always been so on our advert with Owners Direct and has not changed in our 8 years of operation. I happily washed, dried and ironed, 3 loads of laundry which you asked me to do, may I add at no charge to you. As long as we have rented the cottage we have always provided 2 new toilet rolls in each bathroom along with cleaning products, toiletries, tea, coffee and condiments all complimentary and included in the rental, so I don't believe this to be very accurate on your part. With regard to the BBQ... I am afraid my Husband does not recall any conflict, only a polite conversation, when you used our personal BBQ, which was positioned outside the front of our home in a clearly marked, private part of the garden.... it clearly states on the website that for hygiene reasons, we do not provide a BBQ and we recommend that guests purchase a disposal one or that it is no problem at all to bring their own.
We have always enjoyed a great relationship with our guests, and I assume that is why we get so many returning year after year, and so many good reviews....I feel very sad things didn't work out for you on your trip and I can only apologise if you felt that we didn't live up to your expectations.
A superb property that was perfect for the whole family.
The family, ranging from 6 year old twin boys to 80 year old grandad, were all well catered for at Lakeview. The accommodation was absolutely spotless with all bedding and towels smelling lovely!! The view was amazing, despite the weather, and there was plenty to do in the local area. We would have no problem in recommending this property to anyone! Pamela was very welcoming and on hand if required.
