Our stay at Lakeview
We enjoyed a beautiful sunny week at Lakeview. The house was a lovely family home, with flexible sleeping arrangements and well equipped. It is easy to reach many gorgeous places in the Peak District and there are local walks around Carsington Lake. A good base for getting together with friends and family.
Great place to stay
The cottage and location was nice, very clean.
Poor attention to detail
Lovely area, property well situated for walks and good views over lake. Property mostly clean and in good decorative order.
We like to cook for ourselves. Much of the cookware (frying pans, baking trays, pyrex) was well past it - I'd be embarrassed to take it to a charity shop. Couldn't make fried breakfast as non-stick useless. Both frying pans filthy. No oven gloves. Kitchen knives were blunt, peeler was useless. Dishwasher top shelf broken, and could only use bottom half for the whole week. No batteries in radio in kitchen. No large saucepans for larger groups. We had to buy one to make a casserole. Toaster only toasts two pieces at a time (cottage accommodates 8). Light bulbs too low powered in kitchen and living room for reading.
No welcome pack on arrival - seems pretty standard these days. Info folder with leaflets dated 2008 and 2011. No logs for sale at the Co-op for the woodburner. No heating controls (set from next door). No heaters to fall back on if cold.
Owner needs to step up. Could all be put right without spending very much at all.
Amazing property and location. Very welcoming. Lots of thoughtful touches.
Stayed with our family for birthday celebrations. Lovely spacious property.
Had a brilliant time and the weather was kind to us. Would recommend this property.
Lovely house set in a beautiful location.
Just returned home after spending a week here in the Peake District.
What a lovely house set in a quiet location with an excellent view of Carsington water. This is a great location to explore the local area which we found to be awesome. We spent a lot of time around the Matlock Bath area.
We had 18 month twin girls with us and Pamela (the owner) managed to set us up with two Cots which was absolutely fantastic and a big help for us.
The house has all he amenities you would need for a lovely holiday, whether you want to do some day trips out or be a hit more energetic eith walking / cycling and water sports on Carsington water on your doorstep. I would certainly use this home again but would bring my bike the next time.
If I was to make any improvements it would only be a larger Fridge/freezer and the need for a washing machine, but hey, we managed and it's only a petty thing, so not a criticism whatsoever.
Would I go back? I most certainly would and can only thank Pamela for her kind help with our request for the two Cots and for letting us use her Gorgeous home.
Loved it! Great location with easy access to Ashbourne and rest of Derbyshire Dales. Charming, clean cottage attached to owners house but still feels very private. Lovely view and easy walk to Carsington Water. Pamela very helpful and responsive host. We would definitely come back. Thank you Pamela!
