Our second floor apartment is situated in Shanklin most famed for its good weather and pretty Old Village. Its fabulous location offers something for everyone: Sandy Beaches, Rock Pools, Water Sports, Amusement Arcades, Crazy Golf, Thatched Cottages, Quaint Shops and old fashioned tea rooms, which not only offer cream teas, but sea food specialities. Our apartment is furnished to a high standard with Egyptian cotton linen on all the beds; tea towels, bath towels and hand towels are provided, just bring your own beach towels! Loo rolls, hand soap and washing up liquid also provided.The apartment has its own parking space and is a perfect base for visiting the wonderful Isle of Wight and all it has to offer. Places of historical interest include Osborne House, the summer residence of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, and Carisbrooke Castle where Charles I was imprisoned, or let the kids have fun exploring the Island's famous adventure parks: Blackgang Chine and Robin Hill.

The apartment is owned by my parents who love the island but are not able to visit any more and as such we are managing the property for them. We've been holidaying on the Isle of Wight and staying in Savoy Court for over 16 years. We have some lovely memories of the different places we've visited and things that we've done with our 2 boys (eldest now 21, youngest 17 years) from playing cowboys in Blackgang Chine, watching the falconry display at Robin Hill to building sand castles & playing boules on Shanklin beach. It's truly a wonderful place to visit!

Why Sue chose Shanklin
My parents bought the apartment over 20 years ago, after visiting friends on the Isle of Wight and falling in love with the whole way of life there. They chose Savoy Court in Shanklin for it's idyllic location near the sea and Shanklin Chine. It's the ideal holiday home with the beach, shops, restaurants and Shanklin Old Village virtually on your doorstep so you don't even need a car! And if you want to get away from it all, the coastal walk to Ventnor blows the cobwebs away.
What makes this Apartment unique
The apartment is home from home to us and we've loved staying there over the years. The whole getting on a ferry and driving down to Shanklin along some twisting, winding roads gives a feeling of getting away from the Mainland rat race. We love the fact that you can stumble out of bed, into your swimming costume and trundle down the hill to the beach in minutes and because it's so near it doesn't matter if you've forgotten something! You don't have to pay to park the car along the sea front because you don't need the car! It's been relaxing and convenient for all our family's needs over the years.
Sports & Adventure Activities
Very clean and well equipped apartment. Plenty of room for the 4 of us and the baby.
We spent a week here and really enjoyed it. The island has plenty to do and see even if the weather is not great. We visited Osborne house, the Needles,Amazon zoo,Zootique,Shanklin Chine,Blackgang Chine,Monkey world,Butterfly world to name a few.
The apartment is a stones throw from the beach and within walking distance from Shanklin center.
We saw many Red Squirrels from the balcony.
Well worth a visit.

A lovely apartment very close to the beach. Catered for all our needs and very homely. A great place to stay on the island and was our second stay in Shanklin. We would love to return again.

Second year running we had a lovely stay. The apartment is great, has everything you need and more. It has a very homely feel.
Would definitely recommend staying here to anyone who wants to be in prime location for the beach, pubs and the old village.
Absolutely beautiful.....just perfect
The apartment is beautiful with everything you could posssibly need. Bigger than I expected and everything spotlessly clean. All the furniture is comfortable including the beds which have luxurious Egyptian cotton bedding.
I was a bit sceptical about staying in an apartment but I didnt need to worry as it is extremely peaceful and the only time we heard anyone else in the block was when we went out and bumped into the odd neighbour (who were all lovely, friendly and helpful).. Thank you to Sue for the sugar, milk and tea bags, a lovely touch.
A short walk takes you to the lovely town with a good variety of shops, bars and restaurants. We ate out every day of our holiday and our favourite place was The Copper Kettle where you could get anything from an egg sandwich to a gorgeous roast dinner (which cost only £4.95). Loads of other places to choose from including Indian, Chinese, fish and chips (Chubbys is lovely for fish and chips, kebabs, fried chicken and pizza) and plenty more.
No need for a car either as the bus stop is a very short walk from the apartment. We visited Sandown, Ventnor, East and West Cowes and Newport. The Isle of Wight Zoo in Sandown is a lovely day out where you can get up really close to the big cats which is a bit different to others I have been to.
I loved this apartment and so did my (usually fussy) husband and daughter. We couldnt fault a thing. Everything works perfectly from the washing machine and TV to the very fast WIFI.
The beach is a five minute walk and is gorgeous with loads of eating places on the front. The view from the apartment is stunning and I can imagine would be even better in the summer months.
I usually go to Cornwall in the summer but tried to book this lovely place instead. Unfortunately it is fully booked for the weeks I wanted.
Sue, the owner was delightful to deal with all the way through, always replying quickly to any queries and always extremely helpful.
This little gem is now our favourite holiday home and we will hopefully be back time and time again.

Lovely apartment, perfect location
We stayed for 3 nights and had an excellent few days in Shanklin. The apartment was in a great spot for exploring without having to use the car too much and ideal for popping to the beach and getting back for lunch. The apartment had everything we needed - we couldn't really have asked for much more.
Shanklin is a fabulous location for family holidays, with a safe sandy beach and clear waters, 200m from the apartment. The bay is sheltered from the prevailing wind by Dunnose Point, a stunning backdrop, with the tall cliffs of Luccombe and St. Boniface Downs beyond. Looking out to The English Channel across The Bay, views extend around to the White Cliffs of Culver and Bembridge Downs. Shanklin Chine is a natural gorge carved out by a stream which is beautiful in the daytime or evening.
Wightlink vehicle & foot passenger ferries from Portsmouth to Fishbourne, 40 minutes crossing and also crosses from Lymington to Yarmouth, 35 minutes crossing.
Redfunnel vehicle & foot passenger ferries from Southampton to East Cowes, 1 hour crossing.
For foot passengers the 'Fast Cat' goes from Portsmouth to Ryde Pier Head in 20 minutes and 'Redjet' in 25 minutes from Southampton to West Cowes.
Trains run from Shanklin to Ryde Pier Head.

Shanklin is a town of great character and charm with many interesting small shops. Sheltering cliffs provide the ideal suntrap position for the seafront Esplanade, where there is safe bathing from a sandy beach, water sports, car parks, hotels, amusements and a host of pubs and restaurants. The first week of August is traditionally Carnival Week with carnival parades in the town and sports and fireworks at the County Ground. Later in August Shanklin Regatta is one of the highlights of the year with a firework finale which lights up the bay.
Shanklin Old Village with its picturesque cottages clustered around the thatched Crab Inn have now become craft and gift shops or restaurants. Follow the lane from the Old Village to reach Shanklin's famous Chine, a dramatic fissure in the rock where a 45 ft waterfall cascades through boulders and ferns to the shore. The Chine's Heritage Centre features an exhibition about PLUTO - the Pipeline Under the Ocean, which was laid to pump fuel across the channel for the Normandy invasion forces.
There's nothing quite like Cowes Week (4 - 11 August 2018); the oldest and largest annual sailing regatta in the World. The event boasts an 8-day schedule combining competitive racing and great fun for the 8,000 competitors racing and 100,000 spectators who enjoy a fantastic line up of shore-side entertainment day and night culminating in the famous firework display on the final Friday of the event. Not to be missed!
