The delightful Tramontana Estate is well-established, peaceful with pleasant gardens and a large pool and steps down through the cliff to access the estuary. A small shop and pleasant bar/restaurant are a minute's walk away. Es Castell and Cala Fons pretty harbour 10 minutes walk. The airport and major shops are a 15 minute drive away and beautiful beaches between 15-30 minutes.

Views to die for. Third visit, my heart belongs in sol del este
This star feature of this apartment is its brilliant location, right on the shoreline of Mahon harbour, with views north over La Mola fortress. We had many a breakfast on the terrace in the morning sun, just staring at the view. Head west and its a 15 minutes stroll brings you to the pretty harbour of Cales Fonds, with many great restaurants. Head east and within a couple of minutes your walking in fields by the shoreline.
The apartment itself is simply furnished, but was clean and in good condition. The kitchen was well equipped. And the double bed was comfortable.
The kids braved the pool - well it was April - which did look very inviting. The pretty gardens were well maintained.
Another handy feature is the Cafeteria Sol del Este, which is on the edge of the Tramontana complex. They serve good food and cold beer at reasonable prices, so very handy when you want something on your doorstep. And if football is your thing have a chat to Ignacio the owner, and ask him about his past glories...
Special interest holidays:
One of the reasons we bought in Menorca is its peacefulness, and a great walking area. The Cami de Cavalls footpath around the island is kept very accessible and well signed, passing through great countryside and lovely remote sandy bays.
There is also a flying club not far away for pilots with EASA private licences and we also understand that the sailing is magical around the island.
Small coves and rocky inlets can be accessed by the cliff coastal path in each direction within 15 minutes from the house. A number of sandy beaches can be accessed by car in 30 minutes. Perhaps one of the most magical ways of accessing the coast is by the coastal footpath where quite stunning beaches can be found.
The house is only 15 minutes by car or taxi from the Mahon airport, although the orientation of the runways means aircraft do not pass over the Sol del Este area. The ferry terminal is about 15 mins. Buses may be caught from Es Castell to Mahon about every 30 mins and then buses from Mahon spread over the island.
Es Castell is about 1 mile away, Mahon about 3 miles.
