Peaceful location, comfortable and clean accommodation

  • 4 of 5

Quiet and tucked away down a dead end lane, this lovely building (first floor to let with home office beneath, not used while we were staying) was ideal for a week's exploration of the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean. As a let for 4 people it might be a squeeze in the living area, but it was perfect for a mother and daughter break. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds and sofas very comfortable. Staying in June, we had no need for the wood burning stove, but can imagine it would be a real asset at colder times of the year.

Lots of attractive walks close by, particularly around Tintern with its sublime abbey, and Newland in the Forest of Dean. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would recommend it.

A wonderful holiday cottage in a secluded position, about a 20 minute walk from a pub which serves good food (mainly uphill though, however the positve is you roll back down!)

Good location in the Wye Valley, and the cottage is well maintained and looked after. We went there for a rest and it is perfect for walking the wye valley, there were loads of footpaths in the area, though an OS map would be advisable.

Further Details:

Leisure activities in the Wye Valley area include walking the many scenic country walks we have either along the nearby River Wye or up the Black Mountains near Abergavenny. Fishing in the area is popular and canoeing the river Wye from Symonds Yat is also very popular. Just visiting the many castles, and towns we have around the Wye valley or seeing Tintern Abbey with its Wordsworth and Henry 8th connections can be a great way to spend a day out.

Shopping in the Monmouth market town is always fun with its regular farmers markets and Waitrose supermarket. And Chepstow has its Tesco and famous horse race course with regular meetings throughout the year.
