About Beatrice Brindley
We live in Newcastle, have been married for 40 years and have two daughters and 2 grandchildren. After spending a lifetime of family holidays in the Lake District with the girls, Larchwood was the perfect place to continue this tradition with our ever growing family and friends.
Beatrice Brindley purchased this Cottage in 2012
Why Beatrice Brindley chose Penrith
We have always loved the Lake District and Larchwood provided access to all that it has to offer, yet its unique location gave us our own private retreat and the opportunity to create a home from home with family and friends in one of the most beautiful places in world.

Absolutely fantastic. Would definitely recommend.
Having just stayed for a week in this lodge with my husband, his parents and our dog, it certainly didn't disappoint.
The lodge is amazing; it is immaculately presented, clean and stocked with all the equipment and bits & pieces you could want (seriously, I've never known such a well-stocked lodge as this one). Tescos (as well as other supermarkets) will also deliver groceries directly to the lodge - which is handy).
When we'd seen the mention of local wildlife near the lodge on the listing etc, we honestly thought that we would be very lucky if we saw one or two squirrels or birds. We were, however, happily proved wrong. The lodge was visited very regularly by all sorts of wildlife, including regular visits from red squirrels who came to feast from the feeders on/around the lodge (which the lodge owners kindly leave ample feed for you to be able to restock).
With having the dog with us, it was important to us that the outdoor space was enclosed so that the dog could be safe and secure whilst enjoying some fresh air. It was great, therefore, that the deck was fully fenced and gated, meaning we could all enjoy the outside space together.
Although there are no shops, pubs etc within walking distance, this didn't take anything away from our enjoyment of the lodge, and Penrith and Keswick are just short drives away (approx. 20/25 mins).
The owners of the lodge were really helpful and accommodating and have obviously taken great care and consideration in the presentation and maintenance of the lodge.
I would definitely recommend this lodge without hesitation to anyone looking for somewhere to stay to relax and unwind (or as a base for exploring the Lakes).
Beautiful location, very well equipped
We had an amazing time, first time to the area and will definitely be back!
Relaxing stay in a lovely lodge with red squirrels
The lodge is a very welcoming , spacious and comfortable place to stay. It was very clean and very well equipped with everything we could possibly want with everything in full working order. We all loved staying in the property. The internet was very good which kept the younger members of the party happy.
We really enjoyed sitting in the garden and patio area listening to the birds sing and watching the red squirrels playing.
We would love to come again and bring the bikes as the local roads are quiet.
The site is ideal for visiting the north lakes and North Cumbria area.
Many thanks for letting us stay in your outstanding lodge.
Perfect for a family getaway
Lovely, clean lodge with everything we needed for a stress free family holiday. Wildlife literally on your doorstep. Loved watching the red squirrels whilst making a cup of tea. Lots of birds and even a sheep grazing on the neighbours lawn. Surrounding area beautiful. A stunning part of the world: Owners were very helpful and accommodating.
What a lovely little place
We spent a fantastic week, helped by unseasonably beautiful weather, in this lovely, well maintained and superbly equipped holiday lodge. The wildlife, which we'd read about in reviews, did not disappoint. Despite being in a cluster of other holiday lodges nearby, this lodge still maintains a feeling of isolation and tranquility. A truly relaxing and recommended location for a get-away.
This a beautiful well equipped lodge, set in a idyllic place , peaceful And serene.
