Coast/beach: Drive down the valley and there are many long, palm fringed beaches and small bays in both Almunecar and Salobrena, 20 min away. Enjoy all the usual beach holiday amenities of these popular Spanish holiday towns or drive the deserted coast road toward Nerja and discover many 'hidden' bays and beaches, most with traditional beach restaurants offering excellent seafood they catch themselves! Beautiful Cantarrijan and Canuelo in the National Park are highly recommended for swimming.
Activities and interests: Fantastic walking, horse trekking, canyoning and waterfalls. The whole area is hugely popular with cyclists of all levels and guided cycling is available . The diverse wildlife includes deer, mountain goats, and birds such as the colourful bee-eaters, eagles, honey buzzards and kestrels. Watch the 'golondrinas' (swallows) swoop to drink from the pool.
Visit historic Granada and the amazing Alhambra Palace one hour away, take the tapas tour or hit the beaches of Salobrena, Motril and the caves at Nerja.
