The Merchants golf course is on the doorstep and Craiglockhart Hill provides excellent walks with amazing views across the city. Ample free parking as well as excellent bus links to the city centre make this the perfect holiday base. We welcome children over the age of 8 as the flat has many pale soft furnishings and ornaments.

About Celia Scott
This apartment is our Edinburgh home which we live in during the winter months of the year. During the summer, which we spend in France, we let the apartment to holiday makers and business visitors. The Steils is a lovely home for us but it is also the perfect holiday base for visitors from which to explore the wonderful city of Edinburgh. Our family takes care of the lettings, looks after the property and keeps the flat fresh and welcoming for our guests.

A truly beautiful apartment! Quite spacious with more than enough room for our group of four. Spotlessly clean, great kitchen with anything you could want and a laundry room with separate washer and dryer, which is really quite nice. Also, important to my husband, plenty of towels! In a quiet residential area, it was a great base from which to tour Edinburgh. Only a quick walk around the corner and you are at the bus station, which has regular service. Five minutes and you are at shops and restaurants or continue on to the city center.

The property was very beautiful and well equipped.
There were four of us staying here and there was plenty of space. It was very quiet and private. We met a few neighbors and they were so kind. One day we had no electric, a breaker blew. Within 15 minutes of contacting Celia’s son Graham , he was there and had it fixed. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cooking utensils. The bus stop was practically right outside our door which took us into Edinburgh every day . Morningside is a great little town too.

Spacious and gracious flat in woodsy setting
We enjoyed sharing this space since there was so much room! We are 2 couples plus a mom and daughter, from the US and Netherlands.
The kitchen table had room for all of us to gather at the end of our busy days, and the living room/sitting room is enormous. Each bedroom felt private and removed from the rest of the flat. Having 2 full bathrooms for group of 6 added to our comfort and ease.
The kitchen is fully furnished and easy to use; we loved it. Household furnishings were gracious and comfortable.
We had no car and took the bus into town -- a bus stop just steps away made this easy. It took 25-30 minutes to get to the center. Some visitors may prefer to have a car, however.
Celia and her daughter Caroline were helpful, patient and responsive to our questions and concerns. We all enjoyed our stay at the flat and agree we highly recommend it to others.
Excellent accommodation for a party of 5 adults
We chose The Steils for its immaculate accommodation and good links to the city of Edinburgh and surrounding areas - we were not disappointed. The apartment is spacious, elegant and quiet and the owner could not have been more helpful. We would highly recommend this property as an excellent destination when visiting Edinburgh.
East Lothian provides a number of outstanding beaches for walks, picnics and swimming (if the weather permits) including Gullane, North Berwick and Dunbar. These are 40-60 minutes by car from the apartment. Cramond beach, to the north of the city and a 20 minute drive away, provides a lovely long walk along the seafront. There is also a causeway out to Cramond Island which is covered at high tide and a delightful tearoom in the tiny harbour.
Edinburgh airport is 15-20 minutes by car. Use of a car is recommended but not essential as an excellent bus service, which is a two minute walk from the apartment, links us to the city centre and the main Edinburgh attractions including Morningside, Bruntsfield, the university area, the Old Town and Royal Mile, the New Town and Princes Street, Canonmills and Stockbridge.
Nearest shops are a 10 minute walk, Morningside is a 10 minute bus journey or 3 minute car journey away with shops, cafes, restaurants and the Dominion Cinema. The city centre is a 20 minute bus journey away or 10 minute car drive. The apartment is perfectly situated for access to the city centre or the surrounding countryside and is a five minute drive from the city bypass.
The area is exceptionally well served with shops, banks, a post office, restaurants, cafes, delicatessens, bakers and gift shops all in the local Morningside and Bruntsfield areas. Several supermarkets are within a five minute drive including Waitrose, Marks and Spencers, Tesco and Morrisons. The Dominion Cinema providing an old-fashioned cinema experience is easily reached as are many of Edinburgh's other cinemas, theatres and concert venues making the apartment an excellent base for Edinburgh's various Festivals. For those seeking fresh air and amazing views the apartment is a few minutes walk from Craiglockhart Hill which commands panoramic views of Edinburgh. Blackford Hill, Braid Hill and the Pentland Hills also offer beautiful walks and excellent views and are very near at hand as is the Braidburn Park.
Booking Notes: A 50% deposit is requested when placing the booking. The remaining 50% is due 6 weeks before arrival. A refundable deposit of £300 per rental week is required to cover any damage to the property or contents.
